Tragnarion Studios, the Spanish developer behind the Nintendo DS title Doodle Hex, is aiming to please the action-loving crowd with the summer 2012 release Scourge: Outbreak. The newly revealed sci-fi shooter will be coming to PlayStation Network (for PS3), Xbox Live Arcade, and Mac platforms, according to a press release. If you're wondering why there's no mention of a PC release, it's because that already happened in 2010 as the two-part release of The Scourge Project.
The game puts players in control of Echo Squad, a group of mercenaries hired by The Tarn Initiative to do some damage to the competing Nogari Corporation. The synopsis speaks of a rescue mission, a powerful synthetic energy source, and a mission gone wrong that drops players in "alien-infested Nogari facilities" on Nogari Island. There's four-player co-op through the six-hour campaign, 4v4 multiplayer, and an XP progression system spanning both modes.
It's not clear if there's anything that separates Outbreak from The Scourge Project, but the bullet-pointed features and story synopsis from the older game's Steam product listing matches the newly released press release. I think that's a good indication that we're looking at, if nothing else, a feature-complete port.
