XCOM Delayed Into Fiscal 2014

2K Reboots XCOM As First-Person Shooter

Take-Two have announced XCOM, the shooter based on the XCOM series, has been delayed into fiscal 2014, which means it could be released anytime in between April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014. The news comes from Take-Two's annual earnings call. XCOM is currently being developed by 2K Marin.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the strategy game, is on track to be released on October 9, 2012.

I was really looking forward to this. I got a Bioshock feel from some of the gameplay, which I guess is obvious as this specific X-COM was created by those guys. And that was two years ago! I can't understand why it's been pushed so very, very far. Other than development hell as the rest of you have stated.

I was so worried it was enemy unknown that got delayed, but this made me very happy. I am pretty worried about this FPS XCOM. It looks interesting, I will wait to hear more though.

well its official "Xcom" have slipped into "development hell"; there's no way to justify this push back unless they plan to make this a next gen console game.

Well so an XCOM game that's gonna suck to be released in 2014. Oh joy.

Seriously, you're going to take a turn-based combat scifi sim and turn it into a FPS? Why not, gee I dunno, make it into a turn-based combat scifi sim? This isn't an xcom game, it's a FPS that someone is just slapping "xcom" on the front to hope to make a quick buck.

my guess is it turns into a next gen game. I think we will be seeing alot of this with games due out late this year and next year they will be delayed to be a next gen game.
