A recently unsealed contract between Bungie and Activision reveals the first real details on the franchise the two companies are creating. The agreement to create "Project Destiny" was signed in April 16, 2010, so it may have been altered since then, but if not, we'll see a series of Bungie-Activision "sci-fantasy, action shooter games." The first is scheduled for release in 2013. We might also see the return of Bungie's Marathon franchise.
The contract was unsealed as part of the Activision vs. Zampella and West dispute, and indicates that Bungie is creating four "sci-fantasy, action shooter games," code-named "Destiny." A Destiny game will be released every other year, beginning in the fall of 2013. Bungie also agreed to put out four downloadable expansion packs code-named "Comet," every other year beginning in the fall of 2014.
The first "Destiny" game will be Microsoft-exclusive and will be built for the 360 as well as the next generation of Xbox, which the contract called the "Xbox 720." Later games are planned as cross-platform releases, and will be playable on the successor to the PlayStation 3 and on PC.
All the games are planned to be rated "T," and ancillary material like books and/or films (if any) will be approved by Bungie.
The document also refers to Bungie's right to devote no more than 5% of its staff to develop an action-shooter prototype dubbed Marathon while Bungie remains under contract with Activision.
So how much is all this worth? Plenty. Under the contract, Activision would also pay Bungie $2.5 million a year in bonuses between 2010 and 2013 if the studio stay on track and meets quality and budget milestones. Bungie gets another $2.5 million if the first Destiny game achieves a score of 90 or better on GameRankings.com.

Looks like they're not sure if the PS3 can handle what will be on the 360.
As everyone knows, the memory on the split PS3 doesn't have the flexibility of the unified 360 memory., not to mention the extra space the PS3 OS takes up.
Then there's the added lag time to get the data off the 2x BluRay disc compared to the 8x DVD disc.
Lastly the inability of the PS3 to render the same textures as the 360.

If i had to guess the first one will be exclusive because historically it is what they know how to program for. Given the rumors that the next gen PS is going to abandon the cell processor, this will make it program similar to the Xbox and PC.
This says several things to me. Sony is making a push so they are no longer beat out on title releases and to reduce the all ready limited number of exclusive titles Microsoft receives. If i had to guess this is a choice made by the new CEO of Sony to try and gain its shares back in the US after dwindling sales to Xbox. If true this sounds like a solid long term plan to me.

I don't understand. The first game is going to be made for the 360 and also for the 720? Are we talking about a Ninja Gaiden Sigma type thing? I'm fine with the original being released on the 360, as long as there is an enhanced "sigma" version being released on all the next gen platforms. I probably won't get the other games if I missed out on the first one. Hopefully, they come to their senses and change their plans with this. Personally, I'm probably not going to pick up an Xbox 720 just for a couple exclusive shooters. There really aren't that many exclusives on the Xbox. It's basically just a low grade PC.

I still find the whole threat to Activision that Bungie made after they signed the contract with them a hilarious occurrence. Makes me laugh just thinking of the Indie souls at Bungie that are still fighting to do what they want.

According to Ign the first game will be released on ps3 in 2014, the reason for the delay is because they want to ensure quality on the ps3 which they do not have much time working with. So for everyone saying it is stupid it is being an exclusive, it will be on all systems.

I agree that its silly for the first game to be exclusive if they're already planning on releasing the others on other systems. I mean not even on PC? It probably has something to do with them not having the new Playstation architechture to work with, or something silly like that.
