Diablo 3 is here at last, but the release hasn't gone as smoothly as Blizzard would like thanks to some launch day hiccups in the form of an "Error 37" message. Some players are reporting (via Shacknews) that they're greeted with a message upon launching the game that reads: "The servers are busy at this time. Please try again later. (Error 37)"
An update from the developer on Battle.net confirms that the issue is related to the servers being slammed hard with the influx of new users. "Due to high concurrency the login servers are currently at full capacity. This may cause delays in the login process, account pages and web services. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience while this is being resolved." There are also apparently issues affecting character creation that Blizzard is looking into.
This is a huge launch and issues were to be expected. Kudos to Blizzard for getting out in front of it and commenting quickly. How has your first-time Diablo 3 experience been so far? Is the game working fine? Running into these issues or any others? Let us know!

The servers were up at 12;30PM EST, but the login peroid was only about a half hour, and allowed for about two and a half hours before an emergency shutdown was announced and implemented to last an hour, upon restoring the server, 20 minutes later a second emergency shutdown was implemented to come back at 15:30PDT. blizzard over hyped the game and its release without proper testing to avoid these issues, and the customers are paying for it in aggravation, agony, and a lot of sitting around waiting for the server to come back up.

So... played a few minutes... them the server crashed and will be back up in over ... an hour! So far, I have not played more than played... I WANT IN.... Closed beta was better than this, of course, 10 million peeps were not trying to log in at a time!

The Diablo 3 servers are all full and after 5 minutes of playing... i get booted to this... AND the servers are going down... (AGAIN) for an hour?!?!?!?!?
I JUST WANT TO PLAY DIABLO 3 single player ... NOOOOOOOOO
BoydofZINJ
I JUST WANT TO PLAY... PLEASE... WHO DO I HAVE TO SACRIFICE TO START PLAYING AGAIN????

This is just a result of anti-piracy hurting the people who actually bought the game. We paid 60$ for a game that should work regardless of a 24/7 internet connection to Blizzard. Honestly, how are developers surprised every time they release huge games and their servers couldn't cut it. What good did any of those server load tests on the beta do.

This is the crap you get for going online only. I was able to game for like an hour. although I've spend more than hour actually just trying to log in. NOT waiting to log in, actively trying to log in. Screw that.
Frankly this game is NOT worth it. All the hassle and $60 for this???? It even looks like torchlight. Just play that. THey're so similar and you can actually get on that. And its only $20. 12 YEARS for this?!!!! FAIL, skip it. Or at least wait for a week or more for all the day one idiots to give up on it and maybe you too will be able to log on and be disappointed.

This Error 37 was something Blizzard mentioned in their launch guide before the servers went up. It's to be expected when such a massive title is launched that the servers will get bottle necked and won't be able to log everyone in immediately. Just think about it, how many copies do you think were sold at midnight? How many people do you think were trying to log in at the exact same time, got this error, and kept trying to log in over and over? I imagine there's a lot. I find most peoples expectations for this sort of thing are a little high. The game is out, you WILL play it, you bought it for crying out loud, this one little hiccup isn't going to stop you and this is something that happens in almost all AAA games these days. You want to know why? Because they're AAA games! EVERYONE is buying them! Not only that but a lot of people are buying them at midnight, some even bought it digitally and are just watching the clock tick, waiting for the servers to come up so they can hit play. Of course there's going to be issues on launch day.
As for Blizzards choice to make all their games effectively "online" games even if you're only playing single player. Well they definitely have their reasons, it's a pretty good anti-piracy tool and these sorts of things only had to be implemented due to rampant piracy. You could blame the parts of the community who participated in such theft for this, Blizzard is just responding to it and I say they've done a better job than most. At least I can log on from anywhere with an internet connection no matter the computer and not only be able to download every game I've ever bought from Blizzard but play existing characters.
In short, I think a lot of people are whiny bitches who need to learn the value of patience, we've already waited ten years, if you can't wait a couple more hours then you've got problems.

As I get a host of errors, I decide to come to G4tv and see how it is over here... and .... well here we are... all Diablo 3 peeps waiting to get back in :)

Just another game that doesnt work on release day......
yazman666
This error is not the main problem since you can log back in the real issue is the game breaking bug that logs you out permanently while playing a Demon Hunter, players who equip a shield to a Templar follower run the risk of being disconnected from the game's servers.....JESUS!!!! What s going on now days blizzard claimed they have been polishing the game for two years and now this...just as Bethesda this is the industry we are living people publishers/developers promise and promise they make huge advertising campaigns and at the end they almost never deliver...sure they will fix it but this is really becoming a pattern now days and we should be concerned...

A problem this specific screams cheap to me. Blizzard is trying to get by on as few login servers as necessary and as a result many customers are being locked out. Not cool.

my roomate's half-sister makes $83/hr on the computer. She has been out of a job for six months but last month her payment was $16446 just working on the computer for a few hours. Read more on this site => http://LazyCash38.com

I can't believe a AAA developer like Blizzard can't be prepared enough to prevent this from happening...oh wait, yeah I can, because they're a joke. After SC2 you'd think they'd learn by now, have fun with your pay to win overhyped pile of trash fanbois, you deserve it...
DrowNoble
And this is why you do NOT require a single player game to require online access to play. Bad enough that they are basically releasing the game unfinished and (yet again) expecting everyone to pay beta test their game for them.
Way to fail Blizzard, apparently you don't learn from your mistakes.
MrRickenbacker
Thats what they get for not offering an Offline single player. "Error 37" sounds like a decent net handle lol.

Wait..."Kudos to Blizzard" but you criticize Bioware for their launch day issues?

For some reason I've been done with Blizzard. Something about diablo just hasnt interested me, I dunno what it is. However, Im sure the game is great and it sucks that people who have been waiting for this for so long are having these issues. Im sure Blizz will be on top of it though. Good luck!
