The U.S. release of Pikmin 2 for Nintendo's Wii console is now set for June 10, 2012, a morning press release confirms. The much-loved GameCube classic received a 2009 Wii-make release in Japan, Europe, and Australia as part of the publisher's New Play Control! series, but a U.S. version never materialized. Rumors of the Wii port coming to the U.S. first surfaced in April, and now we have confirmation straight from the source.
Pikmin 2 will be released as a Nintendo Selects greatest hits title, meaning it'll carry a price tag of $19.99. The same press release also confirms Mario Power Tennis as a Nintendo Selects title as well. Meanwhile, two other popular Wii games -- Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Donkey Kong Country Returns -- are both seeing value-added price drops, down to $29.99. It's not clear when the price changes go into effect for the three currently available games, but Amazon and GameStop both still list them at their previous price points.
In other words, if you were suddenly hit with an intense desire to own Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Donkey Kong Country Returns, or Mario Power Tennis, you might want to keep that impulse at bay for a few days or weeks.
