I'll be honest...as informational as the handheld releases were, they were HORRIFIC playthrough experiences because it just...well, it really wasn't KH. I mean, I'm sure i'm not the only one who got sick of being pushed around like a broom trying to reload my deck in CoM and Re:CoM. Sure, it made half the 60% of the story in KH2 make much more sense, but they could've done without the mundane recycling of worlds and stories and done something NEW! That's what I LOVED about KH...it was something that really hadn't been attempted and each game brought a brand new experience. But CoM was just KH all over again with filler floor worlds and the option of playing a bland story as Riku. 358/2 Days was only worth it for the fight/scene with Riku and Roxas at the VERY END...I mean, this whole series could've existed without Xion...she was nothing more than plot filler in my mind. That and Dream Drop's trailer completely nullifies the fact 358/2 set in that Xion is completely GONE from all memory and knowledge...even Roxas wouldn't know her by face, yet somehow she supposedly "exists" when she was nothing more than Sora's memories personified in a vain attempt at replacing him. The only game worth playing handheld was BBS, because it wasn't recycled, it was enjoyable, DARK, and it pieced together so much from KH and KH2 that the series was finally beginning to make sense. It could've even ended there at the end of KH2 with BBS as the prelude for one heck of a fulfilling trilogy. And once upon a time, I did eagerly await news of KH3's release and checked the web almost daily for any hints or rumors. But now, it feels like waiting for Diablo 3 all over again with nothing but teasing for an unforeseeable future. When it comes out, sure I might see what people think of it....but after the atrocity SE committed with Final Fantasy XIII-2's DLC abuse, I'm deathly afraid of what they'll do to a game so desired by a decade old fanbase, just to milk it for every buck they can. It's just terrible to see where this game might go, even though once upon a time it was in everyone's imagination what might've been in that bottle's message. Maybe an English release of the Final Mixes might be amusing to entertain, but I'll stick with my trilogy. The Kingdom Hearts from an age when it was something so sincere, new, and so absurdly amusing that a first glance at the original trailer would make any gamer scoff until they put the first game into their PS2 for the first time. If you're going to make it, Nomura, do it now, do it right, and for the love of God, NO DLC! Just straight, good ol' Kingdom Hearts. That's what the world wanted then, and I'm very certain that's what it still wants.
