Tor Books will release Halo: The Thursday War on October 2, 2012, giving fans of Master Chief's continuing adventures an early look at the state that the universe will be in when the story opens on Halo 4 in November. The novel, written by Gears of War and Star Wars fiction author Karen Traviss, continues the story she started in 2011's Halo: Glasslands, part of the Kilo-Five Trilogy.
The story in The Thursday War picks up after the events of Halo 3, painting a more current picture of where the conflict between the humans and the Covenant sits. 343 Industries' Frank O'Connor said in a statement that The Thursday War serves to set up "the events and circumstances that will come to define the state of the Halo universe in Halo 4."

Cannot wait for this book. Glasslands did a great job at bringing the series up to speed and getting the team stuck inside the Dyson Sphere back and relevant to the story. Looks like the cover is the Infinity being constructed or some sort of new enemy ship perhaps?

Does the novel explain the out of cannon qoute by cortana in the game? or the completly new grunt model that has no existing features of the previous grunt making it a completly new alien? probably not.
