EA has announced that Star Wars: The Old Republic has lost 400,000 subscribers since February 2012, bringing the total active user count to 1.3 million. Having even 1.3 million subscribers is nothing to scoff at, but it seems as though BioWare wasn't delivering content that people wanted to play fast enough.
- NEWS: Star Wars: The Old Republic Has More Than 1.7 Million Subscribers -- Sales Pass 2 Million Units
However, it seems as if the Star Wars: The Old Republic devs have noticed the issue and are now working harder than ever to come up with brand new content for players. EA revealed that two new content packs, one called Legacy and the other, Allies, will be available for players sometime in the beginning part of the year.
Presumably the Legacy pack was update 1.2, which added features to the game's Legacy system, as well as new missions, like Warzone: Novare Coast, Operation: Explosive Conflict and Flashpoint: The Lost Island. We're not sure what the Allies content pack will include, but I'm thinking it will have something to do with your Companions.
Let us know if you're someone who started playing SWTOR at the beginning but have since stopped your subscription. If this is you, why did you quit, and will you go back if they add enough new content?

I think people expect too much of a fast pace for this game, its amazing and has potential but it doesnt have the years of experience and ability to have loads of content like WoW does right from launch otherwise it would never have come out. Its still relatively fresh and just needs time to pick up content so people shouldnt quit so soon atleast not for good. There is very much a rich story to be explored and that is one of their key points

I quit playing in February. I came back for the free 7 days when 1.2 came out, and stopped playing again after 1 day of that content. The game doesn't have anything to offer outside of running 3 (now 4) battlegrounds over and over in terms of PvP, and raiding content is such a joke that they have to have each raid have 3 tiers of difficulty just so people are enticed to run it more than once. Load times are ridiculous on some of the planets, and you have to load over and over. The only thing the game had going for it as an MMO was the "Star Wars" name. Otherwise, compared to other MMOs out (even at release) it is pretty lackluster. Lightsabers may sell the game, but they can't keep everyone entertained forever with little entertaining content.

i was in the beta, and finally got around to buying it about 2 weeks ago. im enjoying it so far. honestly there doesnt seem to be a lot of low level players around, so i never get to do flashpoints and Heroics (until im able to solo them) and the low levels i do find just decline party requests. i planned on playing solo anyways, but thats a whole section of the game im not really playing. this game is easier to solo then WoW cause the story and the more diverse quests (kinda) but when i played WoW (which was for like a month) the funnest part was doing dungeons (imo) you could just put yourself in a queue, play the game until you found a party, rinse repeat. there is no queue for SWTOR, which sucks. there deff needs to be, so i can add myself to that, and have some fun with instances while playing the game as well. kind of breaks up the monotony.

Saying this game will go to F2P is like saying "Hi I'am a full blown idiot!". Rift has is living off around the same amount of subscribers. Plus what about all those other games that should be "F2P" now eh?

Gah! I was so excited for this game I spent DAYS looking for a pre order copy that wasn't sold out. I played the crap out of it for the first month, but ultimately I play MMOs for the sense of fellowship they provide. I want to hook up with friends and go on adventures and SWTOR just felt too much like a single player game. There are already plenty of good Star Wars and Bioware games I can play by myself and not pay for by the month.

Me and my wife share the account and do see some things that can be frustrating about the game. Aka no one to group with at all, occasional bugs. But overall the game is extremely fun and when I do get in a group it was way more fun then any group in WoW. Plus The Legacy update was definately a great way of rewarding your for achievments! I think it might of been a little to easy for some players that have a lot of MMO exprience, and that might have turned some people away. I think those players will come back though. Most people don't want to subcribe to too many things, so they alternate. There's a lot of MMO's coming out this year, I think subscribtions are going rollercoaster. Though this says they lost subscribers. How many did they gain??? If they can keep replacing the ones that leave, I think SWTOR will do well. As for me I'm here to stay for a long time. Course being a extreme Star Wars junkie has me a little biased.

i played it for like 2-3 months got my assassin to lv 50 (spoiler alert.) defeated thanaton got to ililium and got bored almost as soon as i got on illium pvp got annoying and dried up easily after playing 15 games of hutball in one day im like wtf they really needed to put more time into pvp making it more fun i mean its star wars people why cant we just have a deathmatch mode where we can kill each other for no reason? after getting 1 character to level 50 i couldnt muster it in me to get my bounter hunter or my sith marauder to since the stories are mostly the same and its the same sidequests i was in a guild for a while but even that got boring i couldnt find any reason to play i mean the people were okay (alot better on wow) (Shout out to zaalbar server dueljosh here) make a lot more reasonos to pvp maybe add loot drops to pvp where you can get more comms or loot from fallen players making it more enjoyable and not as time consuming, until some drastic improvement is made i find

Still on track for F2P in less than 6 months. WoW killer. Lol. It's not even the DCUO killer. Good luck when GW2 drops.

I played the beta. It was fun. However, it's not F2P, and there are plenty of other F2P games out there. It's a new time out there, and EA should get with the times.

Still playing, it gets tedious at times but I still enjoy the game and look forward to what they will be coming out with next. The game is almost 6 months old and while many players have moved on, it's still doing better than most new MMO's at this stage, on the other hand there aren't enough drugs on the planet to make me interesting in playing World of Pandamon, no matter how many times they invite me to Beta test.

My issue overall is that they OVER simplified everything. Its too fracking easy to do everything. I was also expected Rogue Squadron style space combat but no, they made the idiotic decision to go with a rail shooter system, which is the absolute worst idea they could have come up with given the many awesome star wars flight games created in the past. They need and I mean really really NEED to start listening to the players if they want to avoid losing everyone.

Had no time to play due to RL. No fault of the game or the devs.

Why are you all spamming your comments? It's annoying. What, are you afraid G4 won't read them?

I left the game because the grind to max level wasn't any fun. It was a grind with simple fetch and kill quests with a story that was okay, but not enough to keep playing only for that reason. I only played up to level 35~ and after grinding a few characters to max a few times in World of Warcraft, I couldn't do it all over again. If they had a dungeon finder I would have leveled to 60 burned through the easy raid content in a week like all my other friends who found the game easy even on hard mode raids.

im still playing and loving it, but to be honest, my plan from the start has been to jus play all the stories, then quit. but we'll see what they do about the endgame content
Windswept1111
Yeah i started playing it..
1. I log in now and i stand around waiting for a queue to pop on my server for PVP to get zerged by the FOTM classes with little to no chance of fun.
2. I log in and go to the GTN(Auction House) I cant search for anything, noone is selling anything on my server of real use.
3. I log in and i decide to craft something to sell... wait evrerything looted and gotten through PVP rewards is 10x better than what i can make.
Sadly i really do not understand where 250 million dollars went in the design of this game.. was it really to pay people to burp and fart in a microphone so they can call it an alien language?
So many basic things do not work .. Think about it the, largest patch they have included in the game was to give extra credit to people who actually go so bored with the game at 50 that they went and created 5 alts and took them all to 50... Weird when the game company essentially says " i know there isnt anything to do in endgame, so instead of spending the money to make more end game. We built a neat little way to share abilities across all your ALTS" really..?
Please include SWTOR in the next EPIC FAIL segment on AOTS... And watch the FANBOYS jump out with there Green and Black Lightsabers they got from standing around in a group exploding on each other.... Really?
