Criterion, the developer behind Need For Speed Hot Pursuit and the awesomely destructive Burnout series is hiring for an all new action racing game.
The company has posted listings over at EA's career site, stating they're, "hiring and actively looking to add the world’s top talent to a team that just delivered the highest rated Need for Speed title yet." They go on to mention that this, "is a very exciting time at Criterion Games and anyone that joins us will be working on top selling, world class games, on cutting edge hardware in an extremely creative environment."
But if you look closely, there are a few hints about the upcoming title sprinkled throughout the listing.
For example, the open position is for a Cinematic Artist who will work to bring "brutal car action" to life. They'll also be responsible for "delivering stylish, engaging, and entertaining solution to our hi octane driving action." That description screams Burnout to me, although Criterion doesn't explicitly mention the series here.
So will this be the next Need For Speed, Burnout, or a brand new IP? We don't know for sure yet but once anything drives on to the scene we'll be sure to let you know.

another burnout would be freakin' awesome. but please, don't do an open world again. also, make an amazing soundtrack like in takedown. and for the love of all that is good in burnout and the universe, bring back crash mode.

I hope it's better than Paradise. Takedown was great, then paradise stunk IMO. Paradise was confusing, the takedowns were ok, but no crash breaker. What?! That was an awesome part of Takedown.
With EAs track record of not listening to customers I don't have a positive feeling about the next game.

It better be a new Burnout. Paradise was years of fun but we could use a fresh place with new challenges and accidents waiting to happen in explosive ways.
