UPDATE: We've got some official word from Activision on this. A PR rep told G4, "Stay tuned on this. We will have more news for you shortly." I'd say that this at the very least confirms that the product listings are accurate.
ORIGINAL POST: What is Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse? According to Amazon (via Joystiq), it's a console game that is coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 25, 2012. Other than the release date and some placeholder art, the product pages are completely lacking in detail of any kind.
We can at least infer and speculate based on the title though. "Back to the Multiverse" is presumably a nod to the animated TV series' season eight premiere, Road to the Multiverse, in which Brian and Stewie jump to a range of different (and hilarious) universes that tweak the Family Guy that we know in subtle and not-so-subtle ways.
Will this game once again send Family Guy fans hurtling through different variations on the show's established characters and locations? Is the game even real? Personally, I say: "Who knows?" and "Probably."

Activision mentioned it had the Family Guy license on an earnings call last February. There was a lot of other information in that earnings call (True Crime canceled, Guitar Hero's hiatus, layoffs) so I think a lot of people missed it.
