The Creative Assembly is known for its epic-scale real-time strategy game chops in the Total War series, but a newly discovered upcoming next-gen project set in Ridley Scott's Alien universe seems to be moving in a more console-friendly direction. The facts come straight from the developer (via Gamerzines), by way of several job postings that explicity mention "our new Alien IP." Whatever this game is, the postings suggest that it's coming to both current and next-gen hardware.
In addition to postings for Games Tester and Senior Games Tester that specifically connect to the Alien IP, The Creative Assembly is also looking for a Multiplayer / Gameplay Programmer on the project, which suggests that this mysterious game will feature an online component. A number of other openings on the studio's console team point to a push to develop a gameplay engine for an action game, with particular emphasis on candidates versed in the PlayStation 3's unique internal architecture.
Nothing's confirmed until there's an official announcement, of course, but these postings are all pretty telling. My theory is that the game will link up in some way with the upcoming summer feature Prometheus, rather than the long-established mythos that Gearbox Software is exploring with fall 2012's Aliens: Colonial Marines.
