Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami is returning to the survival horror genre with his Tokyo-based Tango Gameworks studio, on a project that is currently codenamed Zwei. Mikami told Famitsu (via Andriasang) that he's serving as executive director on the game, the most closely involved he's been with a project since the 2010 PlatinumGames release, Vanquish.

Details are light at this point. Zwei is a survival horror game on which initial planning started toward the end of 2010. It's still early in the actual development process; not even a platform has been decided on. Mikami expects it to be released on HD consoles, however. Tango, which is owned by ZeniMax Media, is staffing up right now. That's pretty much all there is at the moment. Images are expected to show up in a coming issue of Famitsu, however, so stay tuned.
