God of War: Ascension has been announced, and it's not God of War 4. The upcoming PS3 exclusive will take place before the events of the first God of War, and we assume, before Chains of Olympus. We don't know much about the game yet, but according to the God of War: Ascension trailer it will take place before Kratos became the Ghost of Sparta. It will take on Kratos' origin story, and fingers crossed, his teen years!

The word Ascension can make anythng sound better. Example Avatar 2 doesn't sound as good as Avatar Ascension.

Hell yeah I'll take a copy. Still gotta play through the PSP ones (on the PS3 remake) but this can live on the backlog until then. Better game than Mass Effect without any question.
Vita will get its own stuff. Sony has to support both as best they can.

how are they milking this franchise? its been two years since GoW3, CoD has had 3 games out since then....and even if they were milking it, so far, every game they make has been damn good, so as long as they are making a quality product, who cares if they are milking it.....which they arent

Fantastic! I've always wanted to know what transpired before he got screwed by Ares and the gods. Believe it or not, i'm still playing GOW 3. Tryna beat Titan mode since i never tried to in the past. The graphics are the best i've ever seen and the gameplay is still enjoyable.
This story just made my day.

A new God of War game on a proper console, the PS3...sweet! it's about time they got off the Vita bandwagon and did a game for a real console. i wanted a sequel to to GOW 3, but i'll take any PS3 GOW game, so i say , being it on!

while if u watched the clip at the end of gow3 kratos survives some how and became the main god taking over Zeus role so with that u could possibly roll back the sands of time and go to a point just before he killed his wife and daughter and stop all that happens in all the other games maybe even killing Zeus again cause he is the master control of it all

Ok lets get this straight. We have GOW, the first one. GOW2, and GOW3. There's also Chains of Olympus(prequel to GOW), and Ghost of Sparda(someone correct me but isn't this a prequel TO the prequel? Like before Chains of Olympus?) Now we're getting Ascension, a prequel, to the prequel, which was a prequel to the prequel of the original. GOW inception anyone?

Are you kidding me? I don't care what happened before the first GOW. I want to know what the hell happened at the end of the third. That is where they need to start. Sigh. All of these origin stories just always seem to suck. Lets hope this doesn't

I have always loved the GoW series, but now im afraid there just trying to milk it. we shall see if this one stacks up to the others...and NO! GoW stands for God of War, NOT Gears! Gears can go screw its self.
