Xbox Live Entertainment Apps Go Free For A Weekend

Starting on April 19, 2012, Microsoft will kick off its Entertainment Unlocked promotion, giving all Xbox Live users -- even those without a Gold subscription -- access to a variety of entertainment-oriented apps. The promotion will run from Thursday, April 19 through Monday April 23.

Normally, you would need a Gold subscription to enjoy the full suite of entertainment apps that Xbox Live offers. The weekend promotion will remove that restriction, but it's not a full-on free weekend since multiplayer gaming -- another Gold subscription advantage -- is not included. You can check out the full list of unlocked apps for the U.S. on Major Nelson's blog. Take note, however, that third-party subscription requirements may apply for certain content.
