Star Wars: The Old Republic Content Update 'Rise Of The Rakghouls' Coming Next Week

Star Wars: The Old Republic has introduced a surprise live event. A Rakghoul plague has begun spreading across Tatooine, primarily the Dune Sea. The in-game event was not announced via BioWare press release, instead, it was announced as an in-game news announcement.

Rakghouls were first introduced by BioWare in KOTOR. The gross little mutants were created by the Sith in hopes of creating an army. That backfires as they carry a disease that turns those either scratched or bit into Rakghouls.

If you fall victim to the plague in SWTOR you can collect DNA samples from yourself, which will allow you to get some exclusive loot, like a a Rakghoul pet.

If you want to check out the plagie infested Dune Sea,  then make sure you're around level 20.
