Bethesda Softworks announced in a morning press release that The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim will soon be getting a free Xbox 360 update that adds Kinect-powered voice controls to the game. The more than 200 new voice commands cover everything from issuing orders to followers to menu controls to... wait for it... DRAGON SHOUTS. Fus. Ro. DAH!
The video above gives you a feel for the full extent of what to expect from this update, which should be coming our way before the close of April 2012. It's a cool add-on for the game, especially since it promises to help Skyrim fans become fluent in the ancient shout-y language of the dragons.

So glad I didn't burn my self out on skyrim, this looks very handy, tried Me3 the other day with kinec after fifteenteen mins, I turned it off, might give it a go when I'm passed the first ten hours.

This is really cool. Too bad I don't have a Kinect, but what I'm really excited for is the DLC they are going to announce soon, which of course will be exclusive to Xbox for a month(sorry people who dont have the 360 version, but that's Zenimax's fault), It'll be great.

So I guess this is what that guy was talking about on twitter a week ago about "exciting things planned for skyrim in April" that everyone thought would be the first dlc. I would have preferred DLC, but this is pretty cool too. Assuming the latest patch didn't break anything and fixed the rest of the stuff, I hope this finally makes this game the finished product the devs wanted it to be. And now that the game is complete, dlc can start rolling out.

I half-heartily expected to click on this article and see that another game was getting voice commands tacked on as "Kinect support" and I was right. So any explanation given this time for why these voice commands can't be used with a mic or the PS3 webcam?

there have been kinect controls for the PC for a while now. some guy made it and you can download it. so its about time someone in the company figured out how to copy and paste codes.

If I could use an old Logitech wired headset to give orders in SOCOM 2 to the allied AI way back when, I should have no problem with a blutooth headset in skyrim today. Honestly this seems like more of a publicity stunt for the kinect

After playing Dark Souls I've really become disappointed in Skyrim's melee combat... Everyone fights with the exact same style regardless of weapon. And c'mon, where are the damn spears and pole-arm weapons?! Spears were in Morrowind ffs... They're one of the oldest weapons.
That said, I can't wait for the DLC.

Honestly, quicksave will be handy since the game locks up so much. No I'm not hating on the game, but I honestly am sick of the game locking up. Fix that before adding things like this. And also, since they are doing this, why the heck are they not making mic controls for other games. Just have your mic on, and it does exact same thing.
