Dragon Age 2

Dragon Age 3 hasn't officially been announced yet but that doesn't stop details about the game from being discussed. BioWare has hinted they have heard the cries of their fans and are actively working on addressing them in the next Dragon Age game, which will most likely be Dragon Age 3. The primary complaint was that Dragon Age 2 felt like an afterthought, a rushed game based on the same themes as Dragon Age, but not a true, or even spiritual, sequel.

At BioWare's Dragon Age panel at PAX East 2012, a few devs mused about the next Dragon Age game, hypothetically of course. Gamers who played Dragon Age 2 seemed to have common requests for the next game in the series; stop reusing dungeons, have choices that actually matter, and allow companions to have customizable armor.

To the first request, stop using the same levels, BioWare responded with a slide stating, "Will do!" In regards to the second request, choices that matter, the panel agreed. Choices from past DA games may impact the next game, similar to Mass Effect. Lastly, you'll be able to customize your party to your heart's content.

Watch the panel for yourself!

What do you want from the next Dragon Age game?

I am hoping that gameplay is great and that the levels are well-designed.
But mostly I hope they keep on with the "everyone is bi" for LIs, just so everyone gets a chance to romance whoever they want.
    Haters to the left.

in addition to what was said in the article, a freaking tool kit. i beat DAO three times with not mods, and another 3 times with mods, going on a fourth.....ive beaten DA2 once. have two other characters started, but in no rush to play them. Mods make the game last and give those of us who have played the game a couple or few times, reason to come back without getting board!

Huge former fan of Black Isle/Bioware RPGs of past and if it weren't for the ME3 debacle I'd have already committed to pre-ordering the collector's edition of DA3 on Amazon or Origin. I'm also a fan of David Gaider's writing and the world he's created and realize this is coming from a different team than ME3, but I have lost all faith in Bioware.

If I do eventually purchase this game, it won't be within the first 30 days of launch and it definitely won't be until I've had time to peruse some unbiased reviews from sources I trust.

DA2 did have some flaws but it was still a good enough game for me to play twice...but DA:O was without a doubt the best DA so far and Awakening to it even further.Bioware really needs to go back to the basics that made DA:O so special. I think the reason DA2 was so different form Origins was because so that the "action" style gamer would come in as an audience and bring down the levels of role play in a "role playing game". I believe that DA3 needs to be a perfect blend of both DA:O and DA2 (maybe 80% DA:O and 20% DA2?) to get both audiences in and still have and epic game. (to add I would really like to bring my warden back from DA:O, not as the main character but just invovled in the story somehow...and also by the way....any say that DA:O is one of the top 10 RPG's of all time? anyone?

Also, cool, I guess at least part of the game will take place in Orlais and the Seeker from DA2 will be a party member. I didn't recognize the Warden. Was he a character from the previous games?

In any case, it looks like they care what we think. I hope that translates into a good game.

I hated the "it's raining men" wave combat of DA2. Strategic positioning of your characters meant nothing when enemies could just drop out of the sky behind you. Combat in Origins was MUCH better IMO. I did enjoy DA2 quite a bit in any case. I loved the interaction between the characters and the stories of all the NPC's along with Hawke's story. I hated that you had to fight the Circle and the Templars both regardless of who you sided with. Of course I hated the reused environments. I think everyone will want to know what happened to the Warden and to Hawke and what the deal with Morrigan's baby was.

So, not reusing levels, able to customize your party and making player's choices matter, they are going to bring that back?!? Holy crap, give Bioware an award for doing what they have done in the past, but for some reason stopped doing that in their recent games.

Wow is all I have to say to a lot of comments here. This isnt going to be ME3 so why are yall setting yalls expectations that high. Most likely that yes it is from Bioware, but from a different team inside of bioware then the one who made Mass Effect so don't go and through all you complaints about what you had on ME3 on a game that doesnt have a release date or even let anlone any real known facts about it cause honestly yall all sound like biggots who cant let something go.

I request that we either get to hump
or kill Flemeth. Both is good too,
    Basic Instinct style.

can we get a more epic (and/or thought out) story line? I mean in the first one I felt like a Hero.. in the second one I felt like a lackey for one person or another serving their own political agendas.. now political intrigue doesn't bother me, but it just felt TOO political, less heroic..

Complain all you want but your still going to buy the next DA. I saw allot of issues as well but I still saw a lot of good things in the attempts. If they can figure out a balance DA will be back to its old form and may even surprise us again!!!

If they needs some tips, they should just go look at The Witcher 2, that is the game that Dragon Age 2 should have been.

Dragon Age 2 was clearly rushed and the rough textures and recycled levels are obvious signs of it. It was, after all, only in development for 1.5 years. This isn't the first time levels were recycled. Bioware has done this before in ME1. I was frustrated by this but it was only for sidequests so I let it slide. Then they make an ENTIRE GAME using the same cheap trick. It's almost insulting. I don't know if Bioware or EA (or both) are to blame but I hope I hope the outcry prevents them from doing this again.

Know this Bioware/EA, I will give you another chance. However, your low production of quality titles as of late has caused me to be skeptical. Therefore,

I will NOT purchase this game if there is any DAY 1 DLC (unless it is a free bonus like DA:O).

I will not purchase this game (for PC) if there is any intrusive DRM like that seen in Mass Effect 1. (For those not in the know: the PC version allowed only 3 installs. If any major part of your computer is repaired/replaced, you will have to use another of your limited 3 installs. After an outcry, the game became available on Steam free of its horrible 3 install limit)

I will NOT purchase this game if I get penalized for deciding not to play multiplayer. (Mass Effect 3's overall galactic readiness was influenced by how much you play multiplayer. Should you choose not to play online, your score is halved. I personally think it sucks for XBL users since you have to pay extra monthly just to prevent your score from being halved. You might, however, be able to bypass multiplayer this if you made exactly the right decisions or bought all the dlc).

I WILL be waiting for in-depth USER reviews before I purchase this game since many critics totally ignored the ridiculous and inexplicable plot-hole of an ending for ME3 and the fact that Bioware/EA didn't deliver on it's promise that they have been nagging since ME1. This brings me to my final point...

I will NOT be purchasing DA3 if the promises mentioned in this article are not held. You already fooled us with empty promises once...

    THUMBS UP IF YOU AGREE.

DA 2 battle system was a lot of fun imo. But I'll buy DA 3 when it goes on sale or I may wait till its a $20 used game at game stop... This is how you show bioware your disappointment with ME3. Oh ya dont buy the DLC...
