Google Testing Project Glass: Amazing Augmented Reality Glasses

Google has released an update on their augmented reality technology, Project Glass. According to the developers, they want to create a technology that should work for you, "to be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don't."

Project Glass was originally announced back in February. At the time, it was said that the glasses would have Android, pack 3G or 4G connectivity, a GPS, a low-resolution camera, a range of sensors, and cost anywhere between $250 and $600. The project is still in very early development, but Google released a  video demonstrating what Project Glass might enable you to do in the future, and holy crap is it amazing. This is the future, people! We're almost there!

"We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input. So we took a few design photos to show what this technology could look like and created a video to demonstrate what it might enable you to do," said Google on the Project Glass Google+ page.

While the Kinect, Move, and Wii all try to make you the controller, that's not the case with Project Glass. With this sort of technology, while it's not exactly being created for gaming, it could certainly be used in the gaming realm. Imagine seeing your HUD through Project Glass, or making notes in puzzle games via voice chat.

The possibilities are endless, so I ask you,  what sort of gaming implementations do you want to see come out once this type of technology releases? Would you use it to talk to teammates in multiplayer games, or share your score on Google+? Let us know in the comments section.

I wanna get excited about this. But it just seems like a new way to ignore all of the reminders and calendar alerts we get on our smartphones. Except now we have to look at it against our will.

What else will they make us watch against our will??

    The future is Nigh!!!

This would be interesting to mind-map people's ideas when they are working together. Some great ideas just flicker across our brain and we don't pay enough attention to them when we should. If they were mapped somehow, we could retrace and connect them with others who we are working with. Of course, it might be hard to filter thoughts we don't want mapped. Talk about a new form of transparency!

I see a lot of suggestions for fps games with a hud display though I can see it being used for various genres. Look slightly left and your characters field of vision follows look slightly up or down and it does the same. Even better a second sensor on the inside that notices when you close one eye and performs as a zoom for scopes if you want to add to the fps game. I personally would like to see filters that can change from night vision to heat vision ( mainly so I can get that Predator sight going on ). I'm assuming when the tech is improved all sorts of things might be possible although it's only a matter of time before the nude app is created and all hell breaks loose ha ha. In the end everyone will just buy Angry Birds again. I would also think that there would be prescription lenses or people can just get contacts or lasik eye surgery. Any type of new tech that is created is not going to be that great at first it takes time for improvement and of course it will cost an arm and a leg until the company makes it's profit and the cost of manufacturing comes down.

The glasses should be the screen of the game and you can not see through the glasses and use a controller with it, or have a HUD or some maps or something on the screen then pair it with something like kinect so you can have voice and movement all with a HUD on the glasses

I am also worried about it if you currently wear glasses. I think that's something they will need to really look at.
