Google has released an update on their augmented reality technology, Project Glass. According to the developers, they want to create a technology that should work for you, "to be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don't."
Project Glass was originally announced back in February. At the time, it was said that the glasses would have Android, pack 3G or 4G connectivity, a GPS, a low-resolution camera, a range of sensors, and cost anywhere between $250 and $600. The project is still in very early development, but Google released a video demonstrating what Project Glass might enable you to do in the future, and holy crap is it amazing. This is the future, people! We're almost there!
"We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input. So we took a few design photos to show what this technology could look like and created a video to demonstrate what it might enable you to do," said Google on the Project Glass Google+ page.
While the Kinect, Move, and Wii all try to make you the controller, that's not the case with Project Glass. With this sort of technology, while it's not exactly being created for gaming, it could certainly be used in the gaming realm. Imagine seeing your HUD through Project Glass, or making notes in puzzle games via voice chat.
The possibilities are endless, so I ask you, what sort of gaming implementations do you want to see come out once this type of technology releases? Would you use it to talk to teammates in multiplayer games, or share your score on Google+? Let us know in the comments section.

Go watch 'They Live' - then you'll understand the purpose of these glasses.

as far as a cool selling point with games... make ur last kill shot or last 15 seconds of ur life viewable thru the glass, stored on the cloud. that will keep gamers excited to play the game again when they r out and about, the game will b fresh on their minds so they will tell more ppl about that game. great marketing.

It looks as stupid and annoying as a bluetooth headset. It'll probably be popular then.

But you can't trust google.
If you want all your info in a CIA database, and god knows what other fascist organization, then yes, it's a good thing.
The real data is the data YOU PROVIDE THEM, not what THEY PROVIDE YOU.
If there was a way to take the fascism out of the glasses, great. Unfortunately it's google, so that's impossible.
People need to think what information you are giving away, for free mind you....and WHO is accessing/selling/spying on you with it.
Now they'll know not just where you are with GPS, they'll know exactly what you look at, read, so on and so forth.
Hey look, it's not alarmist when it's the truth. It's not alarmist when those bringing this to you are indeed out to screw you.
People try to fool themselves this isn't true, or it won't really matter. Yeah, just like people said that you wouldn't be getting fired because of your Facebook profile. Right? Now some companies ask for your PASSWORD to facebook.
If this is not 100 percent anonymous, then it IS 100 percent spying on you. Somehow I doubt it's anonymous.

This is the type of innovative thinking that made apple the company it is today.
Even though all that you see in the demo can be done already, the current interface is clunky. The glasses would make it so amazingly straight forward.

this is a very good idea, but i agree how can all of this be possible in such a small screen if it is possible then yes this is an amazing idea an i cant wait to see what Google can do with this
DARKELITE3000
Well small things i would say would be memory games like simone or puzzles (of course if ur on a bus doing this u will probably look like u need to be in a mental instute) bt if u want more hardcore games angry birds wouldbe cool bt mabe the player can take the eyes of a solder like in COD and shoot by makeing sounds or hand movements that fit with the player or if we are talking about ghost recon wich i am soooooooo looking forward toyou could plan ur assalt with the maps u can get a pic of the map on ur eye lens and get a pen and paper and trace under it ur assault plans andsend it to ur friends

As much as I can't wait for Augmented Reality to be made readily available, and as much as I"m looking forward to the Project Glass release date - as I said on my blog's Tech Thursday post (http://thedashingrobot.wordpr ess.com/category/tech-thursday /) - I fail to see how the video shows an accurate depiction of the viewers perspective. The video shows a full screen view - but how is this possible on a 2cm x 1cm piece of glass?
Fingers crossed it's as awesome as it looks - but when you look at the hardware it makes you wonder...
gateman21
It's over 90000! props to whom remember, but i'm in if they work
Mjtny73
Now its not a video game, but this might be a pretty interesting idea for arena games like airsoft/paintball/lazer tag.
oni64
it reminds me of garus's eye scanner

They seem kinda cool, but I know one thing is going to be an issue --> DURABILITY. I woluld bet cash money that the first few models won't be waterproof. Not only that, but it might be difficult for the designers to make a restraint system that is discreet, comfortable, easy to use, and effective. I won't be one of the people to get these things as soon as they come out, but once the inevitable bugs are ironed out I will certainly get the best pair!
darklord413
What's that? Would I like to add a Geordi La Forge skin to my purchase? Why, yes, I believe I would.

Man seeing those things, I just head OVER 9000! in my head

Not enough information on what it is, to actually give ideas as to what we want it to do. Is it a way to view the info from your phone, like messages, alerts, etc ? Or is it a phone/sunglasses, web capable independent of your phone kind of thing ? Will it be it be safe to use while driving ? Wireless ?
