Today brings a new look at a game that could have been, Star Wars: Battlefront 3 from the now-defunct studio Free Radical. Glimpses of the multiplayer shooter sequel first arrived in public spaces back in 2009, and now a new video offers a rough look -- a VERY rough look -- at what might have been.
As you can see in this eight minutes of video from Past To Present Online, the basic third-person shooter gameplay from the two previous Battlefronts would have carried into the third one, though on an admittedly grander scale. There are looks at Tattooine and Hoth levels, showing both ground combat and air combat. It's all about as far from polished as you can get, but the footage offers a depressing look at what might have been for Star Wars fans.
Battlefront 3 development supposedly moved over to Pandemic after Free Radical, though that studio is now closed as well. Rumors now point to Spark Unlimited (Legendary, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty) as the developer, though no formal announcements have been made.
