Assassin's Creed 3 will do some cool things with the tablet controller on Nintendo's upcoming Wii U console, the latest issue of Nintendo Power confirms (via My Nintendo News). The new console is set to arrive sometime near the end of 2012, which falls right in line with Assassin's Creed 3's planned October 30 release date.
The tablet's touch screen will have a number of uses, offering players a constant link to the in-game Animus. In addition to the expected map -- presumably with touch-based checkpoint marking -- you'll also have access to Animus Database entries from here. Players can also expect to have touch-based weapon selection as well as an alternate view for Eagle Vision, with the tablet's accelerometer controlling the camera.
There's no release date yet for the Wii U version of the game -- nor is there a release date for the console itself -- but you should definitely check out our freshly posted Assassin's Creed 3 eyes-on preview.

We can all crap on Nintendo, but we all now that company always finds a way to succeed. Just ask yourself how many Nintendo consoles did you buy or own up until now. I can guarantee most of you have owed more Nintendo consoles then Sony, Microsoft, etc...

Interesting use of the unique controller, but is it really worth enough for an entirely new console when I can just pick up the game for the 360 or ps3. I haven't heard of any other games planned for the Wii U, so is the launch really just going to be ports and probably Wii U sports HD?

So excited for the game, not necessarily the Wii U. Aside from HD gaming, nothing excites me about this console. For me, gaming has taken a step backwards with all this motion control garbage. Jumping up and down and swinging my arms to control a player doesn't make me feel anymore part of a game than a traditional controller does. Sorry Nintendo, I've supported you for two decades, but for now I'll stick to my 360 -sans kinect.

Not to be antagonistic here but I was hoping for more. They basically stuck the pause menu on there, some buttons for weapons, and then tilt controls. It's definitely using the space but there is nothing that couldn't be done on a regular controller. Hopefully these aren't the only features being added for the tablet.

This is a selling point because it's going to be an enhanced version, while the xbox and playstation will get the simpler version. I'm not gonna lie, I'm liking this!

Wii U just still seems like a gimmick to me. Maybe I'll see something that will impress me at E3, but as of right now I'll just stick with my normal controller.

I applaud them for attempting to integrate it instead of just slapping on some pointless gimmick to utilize it, I am skeptical of the machine still though, I have a perfectly good 360 and ps3, I dont need another console to play assassins creed on.

Looks like the developers are enjoying the Wii U's New Controller, I like this idea that developers are going with cause then it dosen't inerupt gameplay. So long there is no Lagging issues when u try to equip a item/Weapon or what ever feature is active at the time. My honest opinion I think the Wii U minus the name has a chance to do well. Providing that Nintendo Does what it says and doesn't leave the system to 3rd party developers only. I think For Nintendo To do well they Need A new IP Built Exactly For this System Along with there other Big titles.
