Feedback's Question Of The Week

Feedback needs you...to ask us your questions. Each week we cover several topics, all relevant to your interests. Next week we'll be talking about Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two . We'll also talk about games based on history, like  Assassin's Creed 3, plus other topics I haven't picked yet. Have a question about those two games? Heck, have a question about anything at all? Ask away!

Throwing out a few questions in the hopes one of them might be asked. Would love to foster a discussion.

    1. With players criticizing Mass Effect 3's ending and critics praising it, do you think that differences in how gamers and critics consume games account for the difference in opinion? If not that, what might explain the gap in opinion?

    2. It seems like with every major release, reviews from both critics and players gloss over problems or flaws in a game, only to have those flaws more widely acknowledged months later. An example of this might be Red Dead Redemption's poor Mexico section, or LA Noire's invalidation of player choice. Why do you think that is? Does our excitement for a game overshadow our ability to critically think about it until we've had distance from it?

    3. The Assassin's Creed series has all of human history as a playground for its lore. With that in mind, what time periods or historical events would you want to see the series cover or put its unique spin on? (Personally, I love the idea of Victorian England.)

When I am trying to persuade someone to give video games a chance, I share with them the music of a game. I have taken my mother to Play! A Video Game Symphony and she actually went to Video Games Live of her own interest. I'm gradually getting my wife into Final Fantasy (Our wedding song is Eyes On Me) by showing her the cinematics and plot points. What do you do to convince someone that they should give games a chance as a storytelling medium that can be a richer experience than movies?

For those of you who don't pay attention to EVE Online, the single shard universe full of industrialists, economists, combat pilots, backstabbers, cuttroats, spies, and scammers, CCP recently held it's annual EVE Fanfest. During the convention, while there wasn't alcohol involved, CCP provided us a first look at their new First-Person Shooter Dust 514, including gameplay and information. One of the major points mentioned was that games from Dist 514 would influence the MMO universe.

I was wondering about your opinion on the integration of different games to make a gameplay experience that is more pervasive.

Hi Feedback crew, this week you are featuring Assassin's Creed 3 and my hope is that you provide some insight into this game and the series as a whole. What are the unique gameplay features? What makes this game better then similar retro games like Splinter Cell? What about Assassin's Creed 3 makes it a must buy game?

I played Epic Mickey for about a half an hour and the premise and platforming seemed interesting. Just not my cup of tea. I think this partially, because it's on the Wii and I hate that phallicy controller.

Will they take this franchise and go multi-platform? If ,so could they make the game with the a standard PS3 or Xbox controller?

With Assassins Creed III set during the American Revolution, what other periods of history would you love to see a game be set in? And what game genre for that period.

I would love to see a proper WWI FPS with alternating storylines between the Western/Eastern fronts and the Southern Theatres. Or a Action/Adventure RPG set in the Ancient Egyptian, Classic Mayan, or Early Roman eras. Even something as far back as the late Copper Age to early Bronze Age would be interesting to see if done properly. Or a proper Stargate game (not multiplayer only like SG:Resistance or a MMO like Worlds)...........

What kind of alternate ending could Mass Effect 3 possibly have? How would BioWare patch it and what kind of ending would you have liked to see.

Do you feel like games on the console space have gotten to easy? I recently have not been finishing games because they are too easy, and i get bored. Is this due to an attempt to be accessible? Do players even want a hard game these days? I know i do. For example i wasn't really interested in Bioshock Infinite until i got the impression that it would be challenging, now i'm very excited. Do you personally want more challenge from your games?

Why do so many games attempt photo realistic graphics when something more abstract, like wind waker, can be far more interesting and enduring? Not to mention cheaper to produce. A more abstract art style also allows for the artist and animators to "get away" with more. When i play a photo realistic game my eye is automatically drawn to anything that doesn't look correct. However with a more cartoony look, i'm naturally more forgiving. Delivering convincing emotion is far easier as well. Just look at what Trey Parker of south park says about emotion. with cartoons you only need control of the eyes, eyebrow, and mouth to deliver any facial emotion. Body language is generally covered by things like posture, and hand motions. Photo realism is a nice dream but is a tech issue, we should use what we have in creative ways to deliver the best experience, not rely on tech to improve. River city ransom looks as good today as it did on the day it released, that cant be said about most "photo realistic" games.

I have a pretty big backlog at the moment because of all the games i bought during this summers gaming drought some of which are older games like oblivion and GTA 4 that i never got around to when they were released. At the moment i am about halfway through Too Human and despite the control issues i still think its a pretty good game, any word on more games being made for that franchise?

Why does BIOWARE have to provide "more clarity" to gamers who obviously have no imagination or listening skills?

This past week, Bioware's Ray Muzyka released a public statement indicating that the Mass Effect team is currently working on "providing more clarity for [players] seeking further closure to their journey," and that this "clarity" would be accessible to players via DLC.

While I applaud Bioware for listening to the grievances of its fanbase, the thought of Bioware charging gamers for (seemingly) vital pieces of the game s plot reignites the Day-One DLC controversy.

Where do you stand on the DLC choices made by Bioware over the past two months?

How risky is it to go from Renaissance Europe and the Constantinople to the outbacks of Virginia with an Indian who flings himself from tree to tree like Tarzan?

If that's the Case, will Phil Collins do the soundtrack?

Will Assassin's Creed 3 have bombs?
If they're thinking of more tools to flood our already complicated weapon system, COULD WE GET A PET SYSTEM? like a wolves, or bears or RABID bunny rabbits wearing shady cloaks?
