Thanks to a recent back injury, Adam Sessler was forced to spend a lot of time laying on his couch. Since it was difficult for him to sit upright, Adam spent a lot of time gaming on his PS Vita and his iPad, which got him thinking about handheld gaming. In this week's Soapbox, The Sess discusses handheld consoles, iOS devices, and how they factor in when it comes to gaming on the go.

Like ESPN is all MANNING, G4TV should be all MASS EFFECT.

G4TV should really be embracing this cause and pitting arguments against each other. I'm sure other analysts around the office have an opinion; how about posting a dialogue script of the back-and-forth? People don't just want the news, anymore. Google has already solved that.

G4 is really going to have expand the Podcasts. Too much news is happening to just have it all out in an hour with Feedback every Wednesday and Sessler for five minutes every Tuesday. This is why they're most late on yesterday's news.

And for the love of God, redesign this website!

Consoles won't die. What will eventually happen is an all in one handheld device that docks into your TV so you can play on the big screen and then remove and game on the go. Possibly this device will also replace your cable box and DVD/Blu-ray player and you will be able to access media content (movies, tv and music) on the go in the cloud, possibly gaming in the cloud as well. We are already seeing this (360 as a DVR etc...). Also, this device can broadcast to dummy tablets to access content (kinda like the Wii U controller). Basically all you gotta see whats out there and what companies are trying to do and you will see what coming down the pipeline in the next 5-10 years. I will be one device and you decide how you want to play it (traditional, touch, motion, thought, etc...)

Will we get there tommmorow (probably not)

Wil we be there soon (probably)

Sorry, no one really cares all that much one way or another about mobil games.

ME on the other hand is the biggest gameing issue we've had all year and your response was inadequate.

It must be hard for guys like Adam to have to get so many e-mails and questions about Mass Effect. Lets just wait till the endings is discussed on Feedback after more people have beat the game.

Adam, Soapbox just isn't enough of The Sess--not nearly enough Adam Sessler around this motha'!

The only people shouting the death of console gaming and the rise of ios/handheld/casual gaming are "analysts" or industry people with a vested, financial interest in seeing ios/handheld/casual gaming surpass consoles. The opinions and forecasts they give are anything but objective--SHOCKER! they'll say anything to make themselves a dollar or two (or million).

These forms of gaming don't replace what I'd consider "traditional" gaming on a console or PC, but supplement it, during those times when console or PC gaming aren't an option, nor can they offer the same depth or experience that traditional gaming provides.
