SimCity's GlassBox Engine Demoed In New Video

Posted March 20, 2012 - By Adam Rosenberg

The next SimCity game will be powered by Maxis' all new GlassBox Engine, and a new video featurette has been released to show off how it powers the underlying play. There are no Godzilla attacks or hurricanes here, so move along if action is what you're looking for. Instead, gameplay lead Dan Moskowitz runs through a variety of in-game features. Note that the graphics you see are "not final."

You can definitely get a general sense of what the game will look like, though if you're a gamer with even a passing awareness of SimCity as a franchise then you probably have that already. The video does show off a few of the new game's features in action, such as drag-and-drop customization on specific buildings and how "agents" work to carry resources around the map. Definitely worth a look if you're jonesing for more info after that content-light SimCity reveal at GDC.
