Capcom is going to be releasing a free DLC mission for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City on April 10, 2012. The multiplayer-oriented third-person shooter hits stores next week, on March 20, pitting an Umbrella Security Service squad against a Spec-Ops squad while zombies and BOWs run around mucking things up with their insatiable appetite for human flesh.
The campaign portion of Operation Raccoon City focuses on the Umbrella crew, but the just-announced DLC will shift the focus of the story to the Spec-Ops bunch. The trials they'll face are set during the events of Resident Evil 3, right down to a moment in the mission that will re-create Jill's escape from the Nemesis in that game. You can head over to Capcom Unity for more details on the DLC as well as profiles of each Spec-Ops character.

Ill never say no to free Jill Valentine.

Free DLC is a good thing, but yet for the way Capcom has been lately they'll give this free and hope to charge $5 for a couple of skins for the pack...Or something along those lines. Perhaps Capcom is finally having a change of heart, maybe they'll be doing this more...Course I don't want to give too many "Maybes" Either way I still got a feeling this game will be average at best. Something just doesn't sit right with me....

Then what is the point of having a cake?

Please please PLEASE let this game be good. Free DLC could actually mean a bad game.

You see, people like DLC close to the release date that's free.

And once again the sense of entitlement comes into play. Maybe its just because I won't have to go out and buy a brand new game that I actually don't mind the sfxt "scandal" as some of you call it. Do you really want to buy "super sfxt" for $40 and praise capcom for "being good to their fans" again like ssf4? Why should people that didn't support the franchise to begin with be rewarded? 2 cheesy skins for each character? Yea that was worth my $60 investment for the useless vanilla sf4. At least I won't have to travel to pick up a brand new game and I will only have to pay half as much as I would if they made a new game. I guess some of you don't like to see that they're actually saving you money in the grand scheme of things. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Doesnt matter if the DLC was free, is free, if the game sucks, todays top stories sing about how vamps, wolves, sex, and you guessed it Zombies are selling like crazy... Pit that with the history of RE and no matter what, its legendary. The option now for hand to hand combat 360' and FPS controls similar to (finally in a RE game) manuverability of shooters today and RE: Racoon City will finally take the much needed and much anticipated... Wait for it, wait for... We had to... Step forward. Bout time we can fightand turn and shoot and strafe while running. But is it just me, or does it seem like RE is losing touch with the roots? Real zombies! Honestly the obscene creatures infected are incredibly disasterous/tasteful and creative, but i miss the regular zombies, some slow and week, running, playing dead, random birds infected through windows, etc... Mutations in viruses leading to razor like octopus heads and stuff. Just leave me with the originals, infected: neighbors, dogs, birds, lickers, etc... Oh and addmoments of suspence where they randomly break through doors, windows, etc... With modern day FPS third person controla and a tactical 360combat that is military striking powerful and not like a 3rd grader with a nife and im gonna make a life on my couch playing it. RE, for life...

I wonder if it went down like this:
Capcom Operation Raccoon City Important Programmer Person#1: So, didja hear about what happened with the Mass Effect Day 1 DLC?
Capcom Operation Raccoon City Important Programmer Person#2: Yeah, blows to be them....& with all the BS going on with the ending & all. Bioware prolly did it for shock value & then they'll DLC the rest of the ending. That's what I'd do! The full ending didn't get leaked, & Bioware makes more $$ Baby! Genius. Gamers are so much Sheep. lulz
Capcom Operation Raccoon City Important Programmer Person#1: Um, maybe so...but the Community is running rampant online, flaming BioWare & putting up Petitions to change the ending....Speaking of that, did you hear what our Street FighterX Tekken team did concerning DLC?
Capcom Operation Raccoon City Important Programmer Person#2 Oh Yeah! genius Idea d00d! They put all the xtra (expletive deleted, synonym for excrement) on the disc so we don't have to pay M$ or Sony much for DLC & then make the Gamer Sheep pay Xtra for what they already have! Double Dip! W00tz Bro! I love the Compatibility excuse. They got it locked down!!1!
Capcom Operation Raccoon City Imporant Programmer Person#1 Um, not so much. Did you see all the bad press we're getting over that? With all of this happening so soon after the Mass Effect 3 DLC + ending problems PLUS the Whole SFXTK Scandal, We've got the Community in an uproar. Anything More & we're seriously (Expletive deleted)ed That's why I'm here to talk to you.
Cap-(Ahh Scr*w it )C.O.R.C.I.P.P.#2 whuzzup?
C.O.R.C.I.P.P#1 You Know the Day 1 DLC For Operation Raccoon City with Jill Valentine That's Already on the Disc, Right?
C.O.R.C.I.P.P#2 Oh, (Expletive deleted, sounds like Fork balls)
C.O.R.C.I.P.P#1 Ya.

It still seems like a "cut from original game" type of deal, just instead of selling it seperately they are using it as an insentive to buy the game.
"omgz! fr3e DLC - must bui nao!"
But hey, free is free.
They could have just as easily charged for it, and given Capcom's track-record.. well, if it weren't being used as a form of promoting the game this would be 100% shocking.
ninenightmares
I knew Capcom didn't hate their consumers THAT bad,
Mystyr_E

Does not compute
travelmaps

AmericanKing01
