SNK has confirmed that the portable Neo Geo X is officially a thing, with plans to release the device at some point in 2012. The original hardware maker will work with Blaze on building and mass-producing the device, according to Eurogamer. The Neo Geo X reportedly features a 3.5-inch LCD screen, A/V output, internal speakers and an SD card slot. It will also come packing 20 pre-loaded games.
Blaze tells Eurogamer that a previously reported price of £500 for the portable device is incorrect. It's not clear yet just how much the Neo Geo X will cost, but Blaze promises that an announcement is coming soon.
You can probably expect the final price tag to fall quite a bit lower than £500; that's more than the price of an iPad for crying out loud! Sure, the original Neo Geo was monstrously overpriced ($650!) when it launched in 1990, but the market's become just a BIT more competitive since then.

I doubt if I will pay any where near 300-600 bucks for a handheld that only plays old school 90's fighting and shooting games. Now on the other hand if Neo Geo were to create next gen versions of those games, exclusively through their handheld, and include wifi and 4G capabilities for multiplayer perhaps...then they might be on to something.

What are they thinking? I will be blown away if they sell 100,000 units. They have no chance of competing with 3DS and Vita. Hell, they probably can't compete with the DS and PSP. If its price is between $99 and $149 then it might have a chance. Might.
