Some Mass Effect 3 fans have been up in arms over the way the March 6, 2012 release's story concluded, and BioWare's Casey Hudson, director and executive producer on the game, has responded. Be aware before reading on: there are no specific spoilers, but there are some light hints in Hudson's comments. You have been warned.
Hudson makes no apologies for the way Commander Shepard's story turned out in his interview with Digital Trends. "I didn’t want the game to be forgettable, and even right down to the sort of polarizing reaction that the ends have had with people–debating what the endings mean and what’s going to happen next, and what situation are the characters left in," he explained.
"That to me is part of what’s exciting about this story. There has always been a little bit of mystery there and a little bit of interpretation, and it’s a story that people can talk about after the fact."
Be sure to check out the rest of the interview, which includes some talk on how BioWare processes fan feedback and an address of the day one DLC concerns. You can also hear more about the ongoing Mass Effect 3 conversation from our very own Adam Sessler in the latest Sessler's Soapbox.
