Onimusha might not be the most relevant franchise anymore, but Capcom is looking to change that with plans to launch a browser-based RPG called Onimusha Soul. An update on the company's website confirms that the PC- and smartphone-friendly browser game, featuring a story set during Japan's Sengoku period, is targeted for a June 28, 2012 release.
Players will step into the role of daimyo (a feudal lord; basically, the real-life version of a Star Wars Moff) as they take on players in control of competing regions. The Unity-based game is said to also feature an original story. Probably not the return that Onimusha fans were hoping for, but Unity is capable of putting out some nice visuals and I think most of us can agree that there's little wrong with "slaying enemies and solving mysteries."

are you kidding me, when i look at title ' onimusha'. yes finally capcom, what took you so long. then its just a browser. i could just think how onimusha would look on ps3/xbox360, kickass awesome. too bad

What a shame. Onimusha certainly deserves better than some half-assed browser game. I wish Capcom would have put Samanosuke in MVC3...

I remember picking up Onimusha up at launch this series deserves more then just a browser based game but anything is better then nothing.

R.I.P Onimusha franchise. i was really hoping they could at least pump out another game before killing it. looks like that's not going to happen.
