Irrational Games has revealed the first of BioShock Infinite's "Heavy Hitter" enemies, exclusively on X-Play. Ladies and Gentlemen, meet The Motorized Patriot.
As you can see from the screenshot above, the Motorized Patriot is a clockwork simulation of George Washington. His features are made of porcelain like a twisted child's doll. He sports two huge flags to show his love-of-country. The Patriot is more than just a pretty face and a flashy dresser, though. He's a fearsome, relentless enemy.
Along with his never-say-die spirit, The Motorized Patriot runs around BioShock Infinite packing heat in the form of a vicious-looking Gatling gun called a pepper-mill.
"Once he destroys the Patriot, Booker can actually go pick up the pepper-mill and use it as a heavy weapon," Levine said. "The only place you can get it is from a destroyed Motorized Patriot."
The idea of the Heavy Hitters is to add a class of enemies with a more imaginative range of powers. "These are enemies that are used to not just be more powerful, but to augment the abilities of the more traditional BioShock enemies," Levine said. "You’re going to come across them in certain areas of the game, and they’re going to provide a really unique challenge."
