I'd really like to hear what your feeling were of the ending, often listening to your soap boxes, and reading your reviews, you analyse things in depth, thus I'd be really keen to hear your opinion on it. Personally I thoroughly enjoyed the game, the pacing, the way side questing was done, in general, I was feeling as I played through the game that it was one of my favourite games I have played in the last year or two. However, as I reached the end, I cannot describe the disappointment I felt with how they handled the ending.

I didn't have an issue with Shepard having to die in most outcomes, in fact, I felt him sacrificing himself was appropriate, the two things that frustrated me, was the forced destruction of the Mass Effect Relays, and result being that they failed to explain the ramifications of what you had done. Thus, I almost felt the game didn't give me the closure I was looking for.

A fine end to a trilogy that I will remember for many years to come. Though, I have to admit... the ending was sort of a "wtf moment", even with sitting through the credits for the final scenes. Granted, I have only taken the "green" ending thus far, but there is a lot left unanswered. One can hope that DLC will fill in gaps, but as things stand the ending was a brick wall after a memorable, enjoyable, inspiring journey.

I agree with everything you said Adam. About the respect that the writers have given to the players and how ME3 is a wonderful game, all except the last 10 minutes that is. Seriously, all that respect and continuity of choices that you've made through out all 3 games goes straight out the window. I'm still scratching my head wondering how/WHY BioWare totally screwed up.
Yes the journey was fantastic, but the destination pretty much ruined it all. For me any way, just my 2cents.

    Mr. Sessler,

Love the Soapbox. I went out, got the game and played very quickly using the advise you give during the show. I want to agree on almost all points. I did feel the importance of decisions was there, and the writing/story telling was amazing until the very end. Mild spoilers, but the ending felt like the complete opposite of what we had throughout the game and its predecessors. It felt like nothing I had done before really had an effect on what finally happened other then I get a blue, green or red color effects for the short closing cut scene, which does not really wrap up the story. I can handle not having a roses and flowers type ending but this left me with a feeling of, 'ummmm, what?' then a sense that this epic adventure had reach its conclusion. Again, I am not saying it should be all happy sunshine, but show me the effects of what I had done. What happens to the galaxy or my friends or my love interest (BTW Tali all the way on that)? I feel like Bioware had a great deal of respect for me as a gamer and a fan until that end point. The ending just did not meet the standards of all the wonderful storytelling they had done every step of the way before that.
Well, that is just what I think, and would love to know what you think. Thank you for such a wonderful show and review of the game.

    Respectfully,

    Daniel Keating

Thanks for the advice Adam, i started to play cautiously like i do for most rpgs in the beginning , but now i'm going balls out and it's awesome!! i was wondering if you were going to address the blatant homophobia and gay bashing going on about this game on metacritic?? it's really sad to have that going on in this day and age. Keep up the good work.

And? I'll be 45 in a couple of days. I've been out of the Army longer than most of the people I work with have even been alive. And I REALLY enjoy playing video games. What's wrong with that?

Oh, my God. I'm so sorry for those reposts. My PC kept lagging for some stupid reason (my brother was using NETFLIX) and the site could barely load in the end, so I wasn't sure if it posted.

Damn, I feel like an idiot.

Mass Effect 3 will justify itself as an impressive work, I'm sure; but years of neurotic caution and worry over the specs of a character has finally pushed me to the place where I've just let go of that mind numbing tyrannical exactness and made the story and plot the focus of my experience. It's a simpler, faster and more fulfilling way to play through a game, for me at least, because I'm just experiencing the meat-and-potatoes of the product -- the bare essence of what they sold it on; good game mechanics and a great narrative. Specs and Customization are just an incentive that I'm not so easily sold on now, although they add to the longevity to a title's capacity for re-playability.

I greatly appreciate the tips on how to enjoy the game. I also am often overwhelmed when customizing my characters abilities in an RPG. It is comforting to know there is not much to worry about. And thank you for the thoughtful and spoiler free review. I have read many Mass Effect 3 reviews today, and the quality of your writing impressed me the most.

WOW, I don't recall seeing Adam speak so highly of a game before.

High praise indeed and very well spoken.
