I have some good news and some bad news for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive fans. The good news is that Valve has announced the long-awaited first-person shooter is going to be released in Summer 2012 for the PC, Mac, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The bad news is that the game has lost its cross-platform functionality.
Valve announced the reason you'll no longer be able to play CS: GO between the PC/Mac and PS3 is because of patching. As the patching process is so long-winded for consoles, Valve decided to separate the platforms to provide the best gameplay experience to everyone.
This may be a good thing, as many of the people who still play Counter-Strike to this day strictly play it on the PC, so Valve may have just gained a lot of credibility from the hardcore gamers out there who don't want to play with PS3 gamers.
What do you think of CS: GO losing its cross-platform play? Will this decision change your mind about buying the game?
