A post has shown up on Italian video game web site MMORPG-Italy leaking the supposed release date of Diablo 3, Blizzard Entertainment's long-awaited dungeon crawler. This information is of course unconfirmed by Blizzard, but the fansite reveals that according to several large retailers, the Italian release date of the game would be April 17, or around Easter.
However, before you get too excited, let's look at a few facts supporting an Easter release date. First, this lines up pretty well with information that Inc.Gamers got, saying that there'd be a Diablo 3 release announcement coming very soon, or around March 5. Plus, CeBIT starts on March 6 in Germany, and Blizzard is attending with Diablo 3.
Not only that, but of course GDC starts on Monday, March 5 and Blizzard (and G4!) is attending that as well, with Jay Wilson, the lead Diablo 3 developer attending the conference. With Blizzard represented all over the world at these prestigious events, it seems like a perfect time to unveil the release date of the product.
When asked about the supposed leak on Twitter, Jay Wilson said, "I cannot debunk or confirm," but that doesn't mean that the date isn't the real one.
When we do find out the official release of Diablo 3, we'll make sure you're the first to know. In the meantime, freeze me until Monday until we know if this info is real or not.
