Lionhead Studios and Microsoft have just announced Fable: Heroes, a downloadable hack-and-slash game set in the Fable universe. Fable: Heroes includes regions, enemies and characters that fans of the “Fable” franchise will recognize, but with a unique art style that offers a fresh take on the world of Albion.
It's a co-op game in which up to five players work together to defeat enemies, compete to pick up coins and otherwise mix it up. The coins are more than markers of your awesomeness, though -- they also allow you to level up your character, unlocking new finishing moves, flourishes and power-ups. You can even used gold coins to unlock items in Fable: The Journey, the full-sized, Kinect-only, Fable RPG that's launching this fall.
As you progress through Fable: Heroes, you will unlock increasingly difficult levels and minigames that will challenge you to gain new powers, beat your previous score and climb the leaderboards.
G4's Jake "The Gasser" Gaskill has played the game and says, "Fable: Heroes brings the world of Albion to life in a somehow even quirkier and colorful way than its source material. I mean, you play as puppets for Molyneux’s sake!" Check out his full Fable: Heroes hands-on preview for more details.
Fable: Heroes will be out in advance of Fable: The Journey. It's an XBLA exclusive.
