This Assassin's Creed 3 FAQ will address everything we know about Ubisoft's upcoming game. Assassin's Creed 3 is all we've been talking about at G4 for the past few days, so I thought I'd put together a list of everything we know about Assassin's Creed 3.
UPDATE: Check out the Assassin's Creed 3 launch trailer! We even broke down the Assassin's Creed 3 trailer, talking about the 8 things that caught our eye.
Where And When: The most exciting information about the game that we learned is the setting: The American Revolution. The first Assassin's Creed 3 picture that leaked clearly showed off AC 3's Colonial America location and time. You might remember learning about the first US war in school, but being placed within that seething cauldron of ideological and political conflict will provide more than enough source material for a game. We like this idea a lot.

Clues left at the end of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood DLC game pinpoint the location even further. Coordinations left in the game indicated New York City as a location Desmond would need to travel. Check it yourself on Google Maps. It seems Ubisoft was planning on a New York City locale as early as Assassin's Creed: Revelations, In that game, you learned you must travel to "The Grand Temple" which is located in New York.
Colonial New York was a hotbed of espionage activity, perfect for an Assassin. Check out our in-depth look at the many possibilities for amazing storytelling and gameplay that Revolutionary War era New York will bring.
Who: We don't know the name of Assassin's Creed 3's main character, but we know a little about him, judging from the officially released Assassin's Creed 3 box art, Game Informer's Assassin's Creed 3 article and pictures, and recently leaked Assassin's Creed 3 screenshots and/or concept art.
There are obvious signs of Native American influence in the main character, from the bows and arrows he's carrying to the tomahawk he uses to murder a redcoat, so it seems he's at least part Native American. During the Revolutionary War, Native American tribes generally fought on the side of the British, but there were exceptions. The leaked screenshots seems to show pieces of the main character's costumes that are colored blue and red, leading to the speculation that there are faction-based disguises possible in the game. Or, perhaps the main character changes his loyalty from British to American during the game?
What: What will the gameplay be like? The screenshots that have come out seem to show "classic" Assassin's Creed style gameplay. Check out the below picture to see what I mean:

That is such a quintessential Assassin's Creed scene. You have the crowded street scene, with evil redcoats clearly on watch in different areas, and the villagers running around, getting in your way. There's even a dog in the shot! You can practically see how you would silently work your way through this crowd, right?
Weapons and technology have always played a big part in the Assassin's Creed series, and if Ubisoft isn't planning on featuring Benjamin Franklin in the technology-provider role previously played by Leonardo DaVinci, they must be crazy. Along with bifocals and a cool stove, Franklin discovered electricity, created a hand-powered (stealthy) boat, and was a master chess player. He was also the nation's first nudist, and wasn't above making fart jokes, so he'll be a colorfully badass ally. I imagine the things he'll do with electricity will be nothing short of amazing.
UPDATE: We now know all about Assassin's Creed 3's weapons, locations, gameplay and more. Many, many details of Assassin's Creed 3 have been confirmed through a leak.
Assassin's Creed 3 will be released on October 30, 2012.

The Revolutionary War setting is an interesting place to take the Assassin's Creed universe to. I'm intrigued with how Ubisoft Montreal is going to pull this off. It should definitely make for an entertaining journey.

(Quite rant:) Although like the series (have all the platform games), I do hate their dialogue. Please give us something more realistic. I don't want something that sounds like it's out of a Russian novel. As well as making the plot more realistic. The world isn't black and white, there should be characters who are good yet have flaws, and some that are evil and yet have a light side to them. I don't want a character personalities that seem as if they are out of the Lord of the Rings.
P.S. But even I liked the Den Defense and the Bomb crafting. Thought they were fun and useful (respectively).

Looks cool, but I was hoping for a female assassin for a change of pace, like Amunet, the Egyptian assassin
Hookz
Honestly I think they can do better than this... American Revolution really?
Jacan
I cant imagine a worse setting for a Assassins creed :(
Really hope they havent destroyed the game by taking it to this setting but it will probaly appeal to the american crowd who dont even know where Europe is :D

'It seems Ubisoft was planning on a New York City locale as early as Assassin's Creed: Revelations,"
Incorrect. ACIII's development started 4 years ago, at the end of ACII. Everything that has led up to this point has been created in support of ACIII's development in the background: George Washington possessing an Apple, the coordinates in NY, the Vault in NY. It was all established in the lore right after ACII ended. ACB and ACR have just been the ways Ubisoft has employed to lead us up to that point so ACIII's location makes sense on the timeline.

I found this info about charles lee its very interesting i googled it he married a mohawk indian woman. During the French and Indian War, Lee was assigned to the American colonies, where he was counted among the survivors of Braddock s disastrous defeat in 1755, sharing his good fortune with comrades George Washington, Horatio Gates and Thomas Gage. Later in the conflict Lee purchased a military command in the Mohawk Valley, where he casually married a Mohawk woman and was adopted by the tribe. His unpredictable behavior and violent temper earned him the name of Boiling Water among the natives.

the name of the assassin is Connor Ratohnhaketon (its pronounced ra-doon-ha-gay-doo)
connor's father was English but his mother native american, and he was raised by native americans.
NasTea31
I hope he has a mohawk under that hood.

I cannot wait for this game, but at the same time I really do hope that they do another continuation of the series, I know people are kinda tired of waiting and waiting, but honestly In my opinion Assassin's Creed has had the best story in any video game by far, Ubisoft has shown that you can have a game like this with multiple spin-off's that can keep us waiting for the next installment and a even more interesting progressive story, I can say that they really need to take AC3 and continue it like they did AC2 and make an AC 3.5 then finish the game on a logical note, either build up the final game with Our new native friend then Desmond's tie in<-----which they most likely wil do, or Finish the game with the Native Assassin and start AC4 With Desmond finally in his own Game NO animus(Unless you have him use it for something that can tie into the game) and have him up against Abstergo and it's agent's who could be anybody from the F.B.I or C.I.A or anything that would actually make sense, This game has so much potential and I just see the game ending way to soon and leaving alll us gamer's to wonder "What If" or W.T.F and maybe they should throw in Subject 16 somewhere before desmond? I don't know, but all i can say is that the game need's to keep going, atleast for one more game, if not 2, it's possible if you really pay attention to the game's story and all of the book's and characters and the possibilities of more location's For Grand temple's, at the end of revelation's we found out the First had 6 places they would conduct trial's to try and save the earth? well what happened there, what did they try and who helped them? anyway's i'm done and i could go on and on and on,but if u wanna hear more or debate the game in it's complete and complex story or what if's FACEBOOK ME.
BONERJAM
I'm not sure what you mean by "classic Assassin's Creed style gameplay" when several screen shot show the main character(Connor from what I've heard) in a tree (possibly finally giving us the ability to climb trees) and roaming wooded areas which are two things the AC series isn't known for.
jbgriffith
cannot wait, the assassin looks like a total BA
jbgriffith
horny for this game already
DarkwingSoul
Oh and by the way.... The Assassin's name is going to be some crazy indian name but everyone just calls him Conner. His dad is from england and his mom is a native american. That must make things interesting.
darkequinox7
FINALLY! AN ASSASSIN THAT HAS THE MENTAL CAPACITY OF CLIMBING A TREE. FINALLY.
