Assassin's Creed 3: More Pictures Revealed

More Assassin's Creed 3 pictures have hit the internet today, as well as some confirmed details about the game itself.  The new info comes by way of Game Informer magazine. The next issue of GI will feature a cover story and a lengthy feature article about the game. Here are the details:

"Set in the latter half of the 18th century, we'll see the war between the Templars and the Assassins escalate as it crosses over to the New World of America, and witness firsthand the events of the American Revolution. Caught in the conflict is a daring new hero in the Assassin's Creed franchise. We have the full story of this new hero and the striking game in which he stars, along with exclusive screens and art from the project, all packed into a massive 13-page cover story."

So the Revolutionary War setting has been confirmed--as has the excitement of everyone here at G4. Both history and gaming buffs are psyched.

Let's recap what we've learned about Assassin's Creed 3 in the last couple days, shall we? Yesterday, the initial image for Assassin's Creed 3 leaked, via an internal Best Buy publication, revealing the game's setting. This morning, Ubisoft revealed the box art for Assassin's Creed 3, making the rumors official, and then, just now, the details of the game's setting were dropped by Game Informer.

if they bring a hole new gameplay it would be bad ass, only heideo kojima can do this, please bring a hole new gameplay in ac3 !! no more tall building only bad ass parkour anywhere

I like the idea, aside from the fact that it would be hard to incorporate tall buildings into a rural countryside. Maybe a noticeably different tree that signifies a Synch point? Either way, hopefully it will be good.
I'm just waiting for the moment where we get to be a modern day, parkour assassin in a city. And finally reveal what happens behind the animus.

i think it would be bad a$$ if one of the cities (hopefully were back to three) is old new york with the small buildings and the gang running around.

The French and Indian War would have been a better pick; less political.

if you think about it though, the developers want to have a setting that was historically significant and may have had links to The Knights Templar. Rome & other Italian cities and Constantinople were kind of obvious choices becuase they were centers of the known world. I think colonial America is a good choice because obviously it is known that there were many who associated with the Free Masons in the New World, and they are supposedly connected with The Knights Templar, so colonial America is actually very logical if it is chosen. Other locales could work too, but i think this is one of the better options

Ahh i also forgot to say, as for people saying he looks native american, one of desmonds European family members could very well have made there way over following the templars (history does show signs that a templar ship could have made its way over before the americas was recorded as a discovery) and had sex with a native, Ezio was a very sexual character! could be his son!

You know I understood Assassins Creed Revelations,Brotherhood and #2 for having guns, they were pretty slow to reload and all, but the farther the franchise skips in time the more guns are developed and the more it just turns into a 3rd person shooter. They might be assassins but I don't really think they can take on an army of men with guns pointing straight at them.

to all the people saying its a huge jump in time! how so? AC1 to ac2 is around 300years, this jump is only about 256 years

As per the gigantic jump in time, I think they're trying to make sure you get all of the details that'll be essential when you finally get the whole Desmond story. If that's the case. It's been a REALLY LONG wait and this guarantees that that wait will be longer x.x

I loved Assassin's Creed 2, but I couldn't get myself to finish Brotherhood. It just felt like more of the same. Now, if this can make some true innovations, I might be willing to give it a shot.

i think they're getting too ahead of themselves. they don't finish desmond's story soon more and more people are going to lose interest in the franchise. how about except for introducing a new character they finish the rest of the story thats already there? this is why i lost interest and stopped playing during brotherhood. this franchise is turning to crap, and i have a feeling ac2 will be the last decent one. this is just cod with swords anymore... you can count on an annual ac game just like cod...
