When I first spotted the above trailer on Joystiq over the weekend, I immediately pegged it as a fun Nugget from the Net mash-up to share with you this morning. Only it's not just for funsies. No, Guncraft is an actual thing being developed by Exato Games, complete with its own Kickstarter page.
It's an online multiplayer shooter built out of voxels, the same cubical building blocks of Minecraft's many, many worlds. It's pretty much what you'd expect a mash-up of Minecraft and a CoD-like multiplayer FPS to look like: you'll create your own maps and then engage in FPS warfare on them, with the same sort of environmental destruction and deformation that you see in Minecraft.
The plan is for a PC and Xbox Live Indie Games release, with hopes for a PC beta in March and full release in June. The XBLIG version "is still up in the air as far as a release date." All of this is contingent on the project hitting its $16,000 pledge mark. You can head over to the Kickstarter page to get a look at some gameplay from the pitch video; the above trailer is more of a goof.
