Mass Effect 3

The launch DLC for Mass Effect 3 has been revealed. "From Ashes" will be available on ME 3 release day, March 6, for all platforms. The word of the DLC's name and content originally leaked on Xbox Live's marketplace, where it was briefly available for sale for 800 Microsoft points, and carried the following description:

"Unearth lost secrets from the past and recruit the Prothean squad member in Mass Effect 3: From Ashes."

So a new mission and a new henchman for 800 Microsoft points.

The DLC was confirmed on Bioware's message boards by Michael Gamble, who posted:

"We're happy to confirm that Mass Effect 3: From Ashes DLC will be available at launch for all platforms. For those of you who have purchased the N7 Collector's Edition (including the PC Digital Deluxe Edition), you will get this content at no extra charge. We'll have a lot more details for you later this week! Stay Tuned!"

What do you think? Are you going to DL this content?

I don't understand EA's marketing strategy. Based on how much gamers like to bitch, they must have predicted all this whining at day 1 DLC for $10. What if they had simply included the DLC in the base game, and priced it at $70 instead of $60? I'm sure anyone who would have bought the game for $60 would have bought it for $70 as well. That way, they get the extra $10 from everyone, and nobody complains about how they're an evil, greedy corporate monster.

Honestly? I'm a big fan of the ME series. People bitching about them being greedy for money is un-needed. xD People only seem to be judging this based on the DLC and the Prothean Squad Member that comes with it, or having to pay extra to be able to get it. ME2 did this with Zaeed, and Kasumi, and there was nowhere NEAR as much complaining as this. They may be greedy, but I am HAPPY with getting the soundtrack, and I LOVE the art books. So, Paying 20 Dollars extra and getting DLC, Artbook, Ingame Items ( Which would also cost more ), A soundtrack, and a few little extra things REALLY isn't that bad. I support Bioware and they have provided me with hours of entertainment. Buy it or not, I'm happy with this ^^

My question is will this dlc affect the storyline at all by not having it? If it does, then this is a dirty move. If it doesn't, then people should stop complaining and just not get the dlc. I'm not getting it because I refuse to pay any extra for any game.

The way I see it big money making corporations are goin to rape our pockets either way. It's America man. I've been in Afghanistan for a year waitin for this game. I preordered the CE and I'm goin to DL that KoA:R demo to make sure I get every piece of that DLC. And when I finally make it home nxt month I am goin to play this game to its entirety

I don't care about the collector's edition, I just wanted a complete standard edition at launch! I cancelled my pre-order to ME3. I have two characters (renegade and paragon) that I have developed through ME1 & 2. Encouraging new game sales over used game sales with included DLC codes I understand. But this new day 1 DLC purchase of a character important to the lore of the game world is one step too far. I will wait a year for the GOTY edition, and get all the content of one price.

So I'll be paying $10 for one mission and one character? Why did Microsoft give Mass effect to EA to begin with?

Yet one more of many reasons why I am no longer a Bioware fan, nor a provider of money for Electronic Arts.

Gamble is happy to announce day dlc, just for saying that he should get a kick to the balls. And as for the collectors edition, they didn't make enough to say so. Retail stores and online stores were sold out of them months before release which is sad. If I was to say I was happy about this, I might as well say I'm happy that Bioware is not giving me the full game for $60 and charging me $10 more for content that was done before they shipped the game.

Prothean squadmate was in the rumor mill months and months ago, this is not news.. the fact that it's DLC and not standard is the news.

Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum

Can't win everyone over, but they are going to make bank off of this game and it's DLC. Greedy as they are, their games are effing RAD, so don't buy it... but everyone who loves Mass Effect (me included) will be happy to spoil the ending for you haha

You know there is going to be more DLC, maybe they should've done a seasons pass deal like in GoW3.

I kind of figured the launch day DLC would be the squadmate included in the collector's edition.

I have a copy of the collector's edition pre-ordered; but I'm glad that they're releasing the content for people who can't get their hands on a copy. Although with the smaller squad size in Mass Effect 3 (only 4 to 6 without the DLC squadmate) I really think they shouldn't have held any squad members out of the main game.

Was gonna come here and flame up EA for being EA and Bioware for selling their soul, but...

They're not the first to do this.

    They won't be the last.

Gamers will buy it anyway so one dude bitching means nothing.

With that said, lets talk about something slightly more important that EA/Bioware screwing fans again....

Is it me, or does Ashley look a bit whored up this game?
