Feedback's Question Of The Week

It's a new year and that can only mean one thing: Makeovers! We think it's time we give the ol' Feedback a face-lift. But before we take the show under the knife we need your input. What do you want to see change? What kinds of guests do you want to see? (Developers, publishers, personalities, me?) What do you want to learn each week? (more news, more reviews, more feedback from you.)

While you're thinking about changes you'd like to see implemented, read this reimagining of John F. Kennedy's Inaugural Address from January 20, 1961. Feedback!

"We observe today not a victory of Feedback but a celebration of Feedback— symbolizing an end, as well as a beginning — signifying renewal, as well as change. For I have sworn before you and Almighty Master Chief the same solemn oath our forebears prescribed nearly a century and three quarters ago.

And so, my fellow Feedbackers, ask not what your Feedback can do for you — ask what you can do for your Feedback."

Let the comment section below be your voice. Help us create the Feedback you've always wanted.

Hey. I am a gamer's gamer. I've had video games in my home since the Atari 2600 and the Apple II C. I have been watching G4 since the Tech TV Days with Call for Help, Pulse, Electric Playground, and Extended Play. Keep it going guys, I love how it all has grown over the years.

What I have ALWAYS wanted on FEEDBACK, is a segment, where a post-review interview is given with someone from a game company in which a poor review was given to their recently highly anticipated release.

For example, Kingdoms of Amalur. This game, before release, was SUPER HYPED. X-Play had multiple segments dedicated to this title, from early E3 bits, to at least 3 'Exclusive Coverage' segments. I lost count on how many handshakes The Sess gave out as he showered them with wonderous praise and kind words of his wide-eyed anticipation of its release. The game received a much much poorer than expected score, and I think the game designers (or some representative) should have the chance to defend or explain why the game was released with such obvious flaws. A 2.5!!!!???? C'mon WHAT HAPPENED???

Quite often, X-Play kisses the buts of many game developers all year long, and then when the game comes out, and a brutally honest review tears down the walls, and thats the last we hear of it. We want to know why. WHY did they end RAGE like that? WHY was this game or that game released with so many bugs? WHY is the backup save feature locked on ALL Assassin's Creed games except if you pay for Playstation Plus? WHY are there only a handful of enemy types and weapons in Ninja Gaiden 3? We as consumers would like to be able to get some answers to these types of questions. This would also give the programmers and designers a chance to explain themselves, explain why things didn't go according to plan, or at the very least address some of our very valid concerns.

Oh, and ENOUGH stroking Cliffy B's and Ken Levine's ego. Yes we ALL KNOW YOU GUYS AT G4love their games and I do too. LOVE. But they doesn't need to be showcased every other week. Give some other hard working industry peeps some love (and airtime) too.

1 more thing we would love to see on Feedback, is maybe once a month, select a listener/watcher and invite them on the show. Include the 'regular guy or gal' in the discussion. While your panel's insight as a whole is usually correct, fun, and informative, when was the last time you had some FEEDBACK from us 'common folks'? Those on the other side of YOUR screen? Get OUR perspective on gaming trends, rumors, industry accessibility, and the fun stuff, like what WE would call Nintendo's next gaming system. Come see how those of us not fully imbedded in the gaming industry see and feel about things. You might learn something in the process too.

And yes, I'd like to b a guest, surprise surprise. Hit me up on Facebook if ya like, but I won't hold my breath.

Anyway, keep up the great work. I truly enjoy the show, no matter who is on the panel.

I think you guys should have two different kinds of feedback.

Have one where you talk about the weekly news, new video games, and other discussion points that are relevant to what your talking about on the show. Have different people from G4 on the show, and this one should be posted every week.

The second should be a show where you just have guest from the gaming industry on and ask them about the games they're working on and ask fan questions. This show doesn't have to be up every week just when you can get guest. Since they aren't always able to do the show.

The reason I'm suggesting this is because I've noticed recently when you have had guest on you haven't talked much about the weekly news and new games of the week. As much as I like seeing guest on the show and hearing what they think I also like hearing from different people at G4 on the show. I hope you consider this and if you can make it happen. I know a lot of people would like this.

I like where the show has gone since Adam handed over hosting duties to Blair. What I really enjoy about feedback is unscripted nature of the show, it has always felt like friends getting together and talking about games.

As such, I feel that Feedback should stay away from anything X-Play has in its wheel house. This means special guests and industry insiders can go to X-Play and preview their game and talk about it. Special guests on feedback have always worked best when they talk about other people's games and their opinion on the state of the industry.

Early on when Blair took over he really pushed the "Feedback" part of feedback, recognizing the fact that we gamers love to have our stuff read on a web cast. I like the ideas being thrown around with making the show more interactive. You always have your big news stories; why not attach a Poll to those stories to see if the G4 community cares one way or the other?

You always feature a game of the week and it's great when you bring on the person who wrote the review for them to talk more about the game. Is there any chance we could also have someone else on with a differing opinion come on to "argue" their point? A lot of times it feels the panel assembled is of one mind and agree on everything. Maybe share some of the better comments posted on the review in agreement and those opposed the next week.

Lastly, we the community need more information on Kingdom Hearts III, even if that means you have to lie to our faces.

I know a lot of people are asking for Adam to come back, but I like the new feedback because Adam sometimes can fall in love with the sound of his voice. not only will he ask a question, but then proceed to answer it, in detail, while Blair lets other people get their say.

Well i actually just watched my first Feedback and really enjoyed it.
now of course i cant compare it to older ones as i have not seen them and prolly wont.
anyways, my question might be kind of random but is anyone else dying to know where those G4 headphones (the ones they wear in studio) can be aqquired??

I don't mind Blair, but I'd like to see more Adam Sessler, Stephen Johnson, Adam Sessler, Kevin Kelly, and since no one else has mentioned it, it'd be nice to see Adam Sessler again! And Nicole. And Leah. And Jessica. And Morgan. Oh, and Adam! Did I also mention Kevin and Stephen? Good.

Round Table idea works. Have several people with all different backgrounds of game style preference on at once with Blair hosting. Have an RPG person, a Fighting person, an Action/Adventure Person, a Sports person, Casual Gamer, and a Wild Card. That Wild Card would be what gets changed every week and be a Developer. Special guest, or KNown Gamer not in the Videogame industry.Pick like 2 Games for the week and just discuss them amongst everyone openly and casually and then maybe do a Q and A thing at the end from the viewers.

My recommendation would be make sure that there are no "empty seats." Anyone on feedback should be articulate, insightful and well-spoken. I don't care about looks or personalities, what I'm here for is the discussions. Some of the best feedbacks I remember had people like Sterling, Abbie, Morgan, Adam, Patrick, Stephen: intelligent, well-spoken people who could articulate their arguments.

The same should be said about any industry guests. I'm not interested in someone coming on to "sell" whatever game their working on or about to release.

And if possible try to incorporate some different opinions. Listening to a show full of cheerleaders who won't address or even talk about a game's possible shortcomings or problems is boring.

Everything else is fine. I like the format of Feedback. It doesn't need to be live (you tried that on broadcast TV and it didn't work so well as it didn't fit the format). Take and answer fan questions via the internet or twitter, but don't bother with phone in nonsense as it would kill the pacing of your show. This isn't Stern (thank Jeebus).

On the Supreme Court episode of feedback last year you had Adam call in to the show from D.C. It would be so cool if you guys allowed fans to call in if they had a particularly insightful question and wanted to give their two cents on what is happening within the video game industry.

Also more games of the week style episodes and fewer developers/producers as guests. The developers just do not seem to have as much casual, fun, and philosophical discussions about specific games as the G4 staff does.

    Anyways love feedback!
Keep up the great job you guys!

We all love Adam and it would be nice to see him pop up from time to time but Blair is doing just fine in my opinion. If I could change anything it would be less industry interviews and stick with staff roundtables. Of course, I understand why you have the insiders, I'm just not a fan.

And of course, more Stephen Johnson!

All in all guys, love the show and appreciate all the work you put into it.

The guests that you have had on recently have really proven to be lackluster and the conversation has waned from what I really looked for in the show back when Adam was the host. Blair has been doing a decent job, but Morgan's stints at hosting have been an eye opener. Yes, she is a bit cynical/jaded, but its refreshing to hear her when she is talking about her real feelings about games and the industry.

When I tune into watch Feedback, I want to hear honest reaction to games and hear the discussion amongst the panelists about how they felt as they played a game. Which is completely unrealistic when you are sitting there discussing a game like Kingdoms of Amalur with the developers of the game. I watch feedback because I like the "roundtable" discussion about the quality of games. If I want to hear interviews with developers I will watch the little interview portions of XPlay or the random interview on AotS.

I realize that G4 is here to make money and reach a large audience, but webshows like this, are webshows because they are niche. If you truly want to do a "developer hour" why not take the time to film that show in addition to Feedback. Even the title of the show's definition is about giving us what people think about a game, or industry direction or whatever. It does not lend itself to pushing developers to promote their games.

Now that being said, I have seen a few xplay panels at conventions in the past where a developer was part of the panel and discussing other games and the industry as a whole. If its a round table, thats one thing, if they are just there to promote a game, that I wanted to hear true and honest opinions on... well that just simply is not ok.

    here are some idea

i used to think that guest from the industry would be cool on the show, but now i am not so sure. it seems to me they are there to promote their games. they should be asked hard questions and talk about where the game industry is going( although i have seen them do this on the show). i think you guys should have guests every month, like an end of the month special.

it would also be cool if the show was longer, like an hour and half show, although you guy probably have real work to do.

also, i like that the people on the show change every week. you should keep that up.
Steven Johnson is always great to see on the show

an idea someone else posted was that you get fans to come on the show. that is a good idea

Blair is a good host, but i did like it when Adam hosted the show. i just like to hear his idea and physiology on video games. that is probably why i enjoy his soapbox. but it would be cool to see him on the show every once in a while

i like that the show is very lad back, it should seem like you guys are just having a conversation. does go to a scripted show.

but i would be ok if you guys just kept it the same. i have been watching the show for about a year and a half and look forward to it every week.

i would love to come on the show to be a fan guest
