NCSoft and ArenaNet plan on bringing Guild Wars 2 to the consoles, eventually. A NCSoft rep confirmed the console version was in development during a conference call today.
“For the console game – when it comes to Guild Wars 2 – as we have announced already, we are in the preparation stage,” said NCSoft when asked of their plans for console development. “And also, for other titles we are in the preparation stage, but nothing has been finalized yet for me to make specific comments now.”
Apparently the console version is old news. ArenaNet’s Martin Ketstein posted in the GW2 Guru Forums that the console version had been publicly discussed several times already. Shame on me for not listening then! It's news to me now, and I'm excited!
Before you cancel you PC per-order, NCSoft also mentioned it was unlikely that the console version of Guild Wars 2 would launch with the PC version. As excited I am by this Guild Wars 2 news, I think I'll still play it on the PC. Although, if this game comes out for the Wii-U, it might be interesting to play with the tablet.
Do you think you'll wait for the console version or jump in as soon as the PC version is released?

Heh, I've heard that one before. Eventually means never. That would be cool if I'm wrong though.

I wonder if i buy it for pc could i play it on my PS3(mice and keyboard support and all) or vice versa.

Really depends on the gameplay style. If it's anything like the first Guild Wars games I don't think the point and click style translates very well over to console. But if it's like DC Universe it could work; I honestly think the PS3 version of DCUO is better than the PC version.

Sticking with the PC version. While there are a few MMOs on the consoles in the past, they are not as successful as the ones on the PC. Also, I suspect the console version of GW2 will be watered down version.

Uh . . . seeing how all my computers suck for real gaming (and I'm a huge console gamer anyways), It will be worth the wait!!

This will be very nice. I believe the more people that try Guild Wars 2 the better. I'll stick to PC version though.

Will people with 360s have to pay for gold or will Arenanet/NCsoft convince Microsoft to allow people without gold to play? Or will people without gold have nothing to do with this game?

It seems i'm the only one who doesn't like this idea. :')
.. I just worry that causal console gamers (as a generalisation) don't even have a big grasp on what an MMO is and how to play one.
PC gamers tend to commit more to learning how to play their MMO and I just worry there will be a large handful of the players who will end up being the "WoW-Alliance-type-kids".
I also wonder how PvP will pan out, PC allows for quicker responses and skill uses and will probably cause an imbalance if PvP was cross-platform.
I'm probably being a pessimist and thinking of the worst though.

Would be nice if they offered cross platform gameplay. I'd pick it up for the PC for a head start, then continue on console with the same character.

I am going to preorder the Pc version tomorrow but i WILL get the console version so me and my Girlfriend can play it together cause she does not have a high end PC yet. I can't wait ^.^

This is cool, I'm sure it is going to be a cross platform IP.

I played the first one on PC but will definitely wait for the console version. Maybe Arena net can show SOE how it's done.

So was Age of Conan and like, every other MMORPG.

Since Guild Wars doesn't have a monthly fee, I think this might do fairly well on consoles. But the majority of MMO players are going to pick this up on the PC (I would guess), so I don't know exactly HOW well. Still, it's nice to see consoles get a shot with an MMO.

I'm jumping on as early as possible, Nikole!

I will definitely pick this up for the PC, but I am pleased also to see that console gamers will get a chance to check it out - MMO's don't do historically well on consoles, but since this one lacks a monthly subscription, it may do great. Phantasy Star Online (the original Dreamcast version) had no monthly fee at first, and it did really well. It was a blast to play, even on my little dialup dreamcast connection. I could see GW2 pulling this off eventually. it has the type of playstyle that would mesh well with a console MMO
