You've gotta hand it to zombies. As ugly and unsettling as they are to look at, they've hit the mainstream in a big way these past few years thanks to their pop culture resurgence. Robert Kirkman can take plenty of responsibility for that, thanks to his Image comic The Walking Dead and its continual transmedia expansion into the realm of television and, soon enough, video games.
Telltale Games revealed last year that it is working on an adventure game adaptation of The Walking Dead. We haven't seen much of it yet, but that ought to change soon enough thanks to the newly launched Playing Dead web series. You can check out the first episode above, with A.J. "the new voice of Marty McFly" Locascio talking to lead designers Jake Rodkin and Sean Vanaman about how things are coming along.
You'll see a few screens and probably spot at least one familiar character, but the only big revelation regarding the content is that the game will exist in the world of the comic book, not the TV show. Familiar characters will come in and out of the ongoing story, but the focus is largely on an entirely new group of survivors in the post-zombie apocalypse.
The designers also confirm a five-month release cycle, spread over five episodes. The choices that you make concerning who lives and who dies will carry over from one episode to the next. My only hope is that the gameplay falls closer to Telltale's Back to the Future series than its more recent Jurassic Park series.
The next episode of Playing Dead will sit down with The Book of Eli writer Gary Whitta, who is working with Telltale on developing the game's story.

This game was very much worth the 5$ it costs.I actually got the season pass,And i must say if the quality stays consistent with this, then it would be worth the 20$ for the whole season and premium theme(ps3). I just wish i could know the release of the next episode.Don't leave me hanging Telltale!

That sounds great in theory however I am only worried about one thing and that is cost. If it costs more than $15-20 per episode I dont think I will be spending my money and time for only 2 hours worth of gameplay per episode.

That was actually really interesting. Rare that I watch through an entire episode of this type of thing. I have to disagree that most other zombie games are about the fantasy of the apocalypse though. I feel that almost every zombie game focuses more on the horror/survival aspect of the zombie apocalypse, and that is where most of the fun comes in. The characters in those games may seem to have unlimited ammo, and they are well supplied, but it is very possible that you can be killed, and in such games as L4D, or Zombie Estate, it becomes clear that the game goes on even when one, two, or three people die, and the team dynamic is very affected by this, and this puts the survival of the rest of the team at risk. Even in games like Dead Rising and Dead Island, you have to run around and find weapons and supplies to use in order to survive. I do agree however that the games do not focus on the fact that the zombies were once humans, were once mothers, or brothers, or sisters, or friends, and I am very interested to see how this game plays out in comparison to other zombie/survival game.
