I know I'm not alone when I say that I really didn't care for the direction that Final Fantasy XIII went in. There were some great characters and a typically insane FF story, but the flaws were numerous and impossible to ignore. Final Fantasy XIII-2 corrects many of those issues, and Square Enix has done a good job so far of making good on promises to bring back familiar faces in DLC releases.
It had previously been hinted at, but Sazh is now confirmed as the focus of a DLC release pegged for a February 28 in Japan, Famitsu reports (via Siliconera). It's not clear when the pack will be coming to the U.S., but you can at least bet on "eventually" for now. The "Heads or Tails" pack adds the new story along with some new casino games. It's priced at 600 yen (around $8) on PSN or 400 MS Points on Xbox Live.

I really can't get over all the self entitled bs people spew out about final fantasy xiii. It is a decent game. I loved it. Is it my favourite final fantasy. Not by a longshot, but it is not a "HORRIBLE GOD AWFUL GAME" like so many people say. FFXIII-2 is a substantial step up. Still not the greatest final fantasy but I think it is a fantastic game. The thing with final fantasy is that they are all different games. I like every single final fantasy game I've played for their own unique reasons and that's how square wants these games to be. If you didn't personally like Final Fantasy xiii thats fine. There are people who don't like final fantasy at all and if they said "all final fantasy games are horrible games" a bunch of people would feel the same way I do right now. Say you don't like it, say you hated it, that's how you feel about and you are entitled to feel that way but don't say it's a "horrible" game like it is a factual statement because it's not. Just cause it's not your cup of tea doesn't mean someone else isn't going to enjoy it and that it doesn't deserve a good review.
Now that I'm finished ranting. I'm stoked forthe dlc. And for the price of a subway sandwhich I'm fine with paying it. FFXIII has a too be continued at the end because there are multiple endings you can go and see after that ending and dlc will add other continuations. It was never to suggest the game was incomplete. So stop the nonsense about "wah I already paid for the game and it was incomplete" your whining is invalid.

If Square Enix wants to win over lots of fans again to their few popular franchise names, they need to get the gameplay together. Final Fantasy has been lacking gameplay so bad lately, that when you look at Xenoblade Chronicles, Skyrim, or even Dragon Age Origins, it's really depressing.

I made this account just now to post in response to what you have to say. Wow, every point you've made I have to agree with 100%. You hit the nail on he head. It's annoying to not be able to jump over a flower, or go up some steps and not be able jump off the side when you think there's nothing in your way. The side-quests seem like they were just thrown in randomly at the last second. The soundtrack has too many tracks that sound similar to one another, so even though you may think there's a lot of variety this time around in this Final Fantasy title, there really isn't. The plot was so weak, it was heart-wrenching to bear witness to each scene in the game. I wasn't really 'feeling' what was taking place because it all seemed so fake. The beginning 30 minutes of the game was so confusing, I didn't know what was going on.

Oh and how could I forget to mention the crap engine? The year is 2012, most games are long past you not being able to step over a flower or stick. Heck, most games you can swim when you get to the water.
And yet, in this day and age, Square is STILL putting out games where you can't step over a flower (the top of the schoolhouse in Oerba) or swim when you get to water. They are STILL putting out games where simple obstacles actually map the boundaries or what your character is able to do in the game.
This is subpar for the video game industry and it's about time gamers come to realize this and shoddy games with bad engines shouldn't even be allowed to see the light of day, let alone get 4/5 and 8/10 ratings.

Here's my problem with FF and SquareEnix. Final Fantasy 13 was garbage, but the kicker was when I saw a preview interview with the lead developer and he said that "I know you will love it [ff 13], and in fact NOBODY loved the game, people only tolerated it because of the franchises' history. Then with FF 13-2 Square made the decision to build upon the WORST Final Fantasy and possibly the worst game in Square's history.
So what happens when you sprinkle glitter on a pile of crap? You get a shiny pile of crap. The ONLY improvement here is in the tiny details of the gameplay and the fact that we aren't funneled down a 30 hour long corridor. The game is still a big pile of crap.
And here is why;
1) Serah, typical Japanese sexualization of a teenage girl... not only is she overly sexy but she is also just a WEAK character overall. Vanille 2.0
2) Plot that makes absolutely ZERO sense. In the end you kill Caius, but Caius defeated Lightning, yet Serah is NOTHING compared to Lightning when it comes to battle prowess, so please explain HOW THE ____ THAT HAPPENED. Lightning the chosen warrior of the Goddess Etro given the armor and sword of Etro and ALL of the Eidolons to command.... lost to some hippy indian with the Soul Caliber sword.
3) Side-quests, they are there, but you wouldn't care if they weren't. These are so boring and the rewards are so inconsequential they may as well have left them out. They ARE NOT fun. In fact all you do is run around a map with too much going on already and scour the area looking for INVISIBLE boxes to throw a stupid annoying Moogle at.
4) Instead of making the Eidolons better they completely drop them from the game. Then they replace them with monsters that you have to collect, so in fact we go from Final Fantasy (summons) to Pokemon (monsters). Sorry guys but I grew out of Pokemon when I was 18... that was 10 years ago. Now I am more interested in summoning badasses like Ifrit and Bahamut to completely annihilate a battlefield in glorious fashion. So obviously my favorite FF games were 7 and 8 because those were the best games, with the best summons and the best plots.
5) Anyone remember when you paid for a game you got 100% of the game. Anything after that was extra, usually an expansion. Well don't expect to pay 60$ and get a full game here. In fact from my best guess you are only going to get 50% of the game. Best weapon, best accessories and best monster are all DLC. Not to mention Serendipity card game is DLC, the rest of the story is DLC. And anything else Square wants to stuff into this box of crap is also going to be DLC.
My rating for this game is 5/10

I'm not excited for this game's DLC at all.
Not in the sense that it will suck or something, but more in as if I had known the DLC whoring they planned I would have waited or wouldn't have even bought the game in the first place. /rageface
Actually I still havn't even opened it (playing through XIII still), maybe it's not too late! Anyone want to buy a sealed copy with unused pre-order bonus? :P lol jk

I have to admit im not all that happy that they are going to release story line content for more money. I think in this day and age the amount us gamers spend on just the game alone should be enough. So i cant say i agree with the direction of this final fantasy, they just dont live up to what they use to be. Dont get me wrong tho, the new battle system, graphics, and ideas they are throwing around is amazing, but why cant we just get the full game? with a full ending...not a 'to be continued' and released in the form of small dlc packs. i want to be wrong tho...i want the dlc packs to be great and full of missions, characters, areas, and story. But i cant help but feel that they are just wringing the gamers dry for every penny they could spend on a title.

I hate that Final Fantasy games now have DLC, but after Square Enix published Call of Duty in Japan they probably realized they can make a lot more money without putting out too much content all at once.
