You all remember the time that Tim Schafer mentioned in an interview that he'd pitched and been turned down by publishers for a sequel to Psychonauts, right? And how Markus "Notch" Persson, Minecraft creator and Mojang big boss, read that and then offered on Twitter to make the sequel a reality? You should, because all of this happened last week. Another thing happened last week as well: DICE. Schafer was there. And Kotaku chatted with him.
The short version is: Schafer and Persson and currently discussing the possibility of a Psychonauts sequel in private. Schafer says that in his first conversation about the sequel, he told Notch that the first game cost $13 million and the sequel would have to match it. "As soon as I mentioned the amount of money, [Notch] said, 'Yeah, I can do that,'" Schafer revealed.
He wouldn't say much about the sequel beyond the fact that he's always had a bigger arc planned for the first game's characters, and that the next adventure would have "a more international setting." Let's maintain some perspective here though: PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT PSYCHONAUTS 2!!!

To quote it all in one sentence... "Yeah, I can do that." EPIC!

Here's a thought: why don't they make the orignal Psychonauts available on Xbos Live again? It was there, but then it got removed. I call not a cow manure!

:D pretty much sums it up. Just started playing Psychonauts again. It's been years, but man, it's still as fun as it was. I really hope this sequel happens.

From the outside looking in, I'd have to say Schafer's best week ever. Talent should not be squandered because of money issues, so I hope both projects come out kicking @$$.
