The time has come, car-combat fans, for you to play the new Twisted Metal; the motors-and-bullets game is on store shelves starting today. It's been a long time since the last TM game, and I'm sure you want to know how Sweet Tooth and company are faring. Here's a taste of Jason D'April's Twisted Metal review:
"Twisted Metal is a hard sell for those in search of a well-rounded driving game. The game play and physics feel almost as if they were ripped from the original PSOne game, and the genre has come a long way since then. While the single-player game is weak, the multiplayer is mostly fun and creative. It’s disappointing that after such a long wait, the game didn’t evolve more, but fans of the original are certain to enjoy this blast from the past."

As I read this, and it's early days, TM is at 79 on metacritic based on 10 reviews.
BTW, DPsx72, your comments are disappearing at an alarming rate. I usually don't even get to read your comments.
5 posts on MLG and Halo, 5 posts flagged with "this comment has been removed" or something similar.

It's reassuring to see that even over six years into this console generation the fanbabies are still ready and willing to wage flame wars on people who don't agree with their point of view.
I have not yet played this game, and I likely never will since I was never a fan of the Twisted Metal franchise, but I can't for the life of me find anything "biased" or "clueless" in his review, which is, for those who can't seem to grasp the concept, *an opinion* about the game.
And his opinion is just as valid as any of the opinions offered up in these comments. If you like the game, great. If you don't like the game, great. At least offer up some constructive dialogue about the game explaining your views rather than resorting to the amateur and immature "he must be biased because he doesn't like a game on my system of choice" cop-out.

"Twisted Metal is a hard sell for those in search of a well-rounded driving game"
How clueless do you need to be to think TM is a driving game, well-rounded or otherwise?

I'm not a PS3 fanboy or anything. I'm more of a fan of Nintendo. I bought twisted metal last night and I think it's better then 99% of the mutliplayer games I've tried.

I see we're still biased here on G4 huh? To rate this game a 3 yet give that disgusting CoD a higher score for doing absolutely nothing is simply insane. There are numerous reasons why the review fails, from likely not having played the series previously to not knowing it's a shooter more than a racing game. This site has hardly any credibility left, and with the emphasis on the lackluster 360 over superior platforms it just shows that G4 cares more about who's handing them money behind the scenes rather than remain an honest site for gamers.

I've lost interest in this game after the announcement of David Jaffe's departure from ESP, and said studio's layoffs and restructuring. I saw the majority of my time on the in multiplayer, and if ESP decided to focus more on mobile games I knew post release support won't meet today's multiplayer standard.

I thought the demo was a lot of fun so I find the review a bit odd especially since the mp couldn't have much to do with the review since that portion wouldn't be fully functional until today/tonight.
One thing I really don't like about this "reboot" (or whatever its considered) is that the roster was widdled down to 4 characters. I know the vehicles are all there but it still feels very generic with gangs of the 4 main characters, I'd much rather have the full cast.

I gotta laugh, PS3 fanboys are the worst of the bitchy buthurt fanboys out there. A reviewer dares to criticize a PS3 exclusive and disagree with you and he's obviously a corrupt Xbox fanboy. That's just incredibly sad.
I played the demo and found the graphics to be substandard and the controls were just strange! I'll pass on this one, David Jaffe is a bit overrated.
Thanks for the honest review G4!!!!
