Pour a little off the top for Metal Gear Online: Konami said it's going to shut down the online combat game on June 12. Metal Gear Online has been running since 2008.
Below the cut, you'll find a shut down schedule for the game, as well as G4's preview... which I hope you don't like too much, because you only have a short time left to play the game.

- Closure of MGO Online Shop.
April 24th 2012 18:00 (JST)
- Expansion packs and Preset Codec Message Appeal Packs will be available for free download.
*Note: Registration for new player characters will not be available during this time.
- Reward shop equipment will be available for free.
* With the exception of "non-sale" items.

I forgot how much fun i had with MGO, this was definitely a game you had to play to get better at. I'm gonna play it online until the end......

Bummer. I never play my PS3 any more but MGO is definitely one of the funnest online games... or at least has the potential to be at times

Well that's sad, of all the servers that are running still and shouldn't be - this was one I never really expected to go away. I guess I took it for granted.
Sure it may have been pretty barren last time I logged in and wasn't really even a thought anymore, but it was tons of fun if you got in with the right people (if not it was uh.. *nothing nice*) :)
They should do a full server wipe and put on some events or contests for all new characters/accounts to participate in ^^ i'd probably hop back into it then.

They should allow you to still play offline with bots and stuff.
MGO was my first real online game for ps3. My days before i followed the masses into CoD.
Loved MGO for its customization and stealthy gameplay.
People who rolled around constantly broke the game.
People who rolled into/out of grabs broke the game.
I hope maybe in a day where MGS get a good sequel they can retackle MGO.

MGO was destroyed anyways. Full of hackers, cheaters, campers, and kids. Shame it had to come to this.

This is very understandable, assuming that not so many people play MGO anymore. I am going to try to play a little bit of it before it goes offline.

DLC is the same concept as going to a play, theatre, arcade or renting a movie. No, you don't get to keep the content forever, but you are still kept entertained for a long enough time. Don't be so cheap.

This is why I only buy DLC if its for offline play because once those servers get shut down you lose all that online DLC you paid your hard earned money for.
macross2012
For this exact reasons this is why I NEVER DLC anything.. If you do not own the item in a file format that you can install at will, you will always be the loser when they shut something down.
Of course I am not directly refering to this game but its all the same..
