More Than One Alan Wake

If you think Alan Wake's story will end after Alan Wake's American Nightmare, you're just flat out wrong. According to Remedy, there is more Wake on the way.

"Hopefully, we'll have one or two surprises,"Matias Myllyrinne, CEO of Remedy, told Joystiq. "I'm loving the digital [distribution] side and we'll see how that evolves, but just being able to give people quick access to bite-size chunks of gaming is maybe more fun than working for years and years -- taking the phone offline and closing the shutters-- at least, this way, you're able to react much more quickly to people's desires and wishes."

Personally, I'd love to see the next Alan Wake be a downloadable game that is strictly horror. No action elements. No weapons. No arcade-style play. Just pure, unadulterated horror. What do you think?

No weapons? What would be the point of using light against everything to make it susceptible to damage if you weren't going to fight it in some way?? >_>

    We certainly can't Bob.

I think when most games release they see the bulk of their sales within a month or two. Some games have incredible staying power, MW, Halo, etc.

After a while most sales become inconsequential and it's hard to even find the game on a shelf in the store.

Let's take Liquid Swords favorite choice GT5, it's his favorite because it's the top selling PS3 exclusive.

It sold 5.7m in 2 months from Nov 27th to 29 Jan 2011, So in the following year it's picked up 1.5m, remember, this is the pinnacle of PS3 sales after 6 years of development.

GT5 is now dropping it's price and releasing a patched version to try and maximize the 6 years of development.

Ok, I give you that but we can't predict the future now can we? Give it a whole year and then look at the sales. Even then, Alan wake will still have an extra year so you have to compare them starting at the same point.

    Bob

    Are you sitting down?

I hate to break this to you, but after 6 months, R3 isn't on any charts. Like most games (MW excepted) it's pretty well run it's course.

I love how lucidity and Dpsx have been going on like this since, well, what seems forever. I went off this site for a bit and I come back to see the exact same thing. Don't get me wrong though, it's pretty funny and their arguments always have flaws in them. For example:
    >Resistance3 1.1M
    >Alan wake 1.5M
Well Hurr durr, one game came out a whole year before.

    As long as games like:

    Infamous 2............................. ..1.12m
    SOCOM 4............................. ......0.66m
    Resistance 3............................. ...1.00m
    Motorstorm Apocalypse.............0.27mYakuza 4............................. .............0.82m

    sell less then Alan Wake:

    http://www.vg247.com/2011/12 /02/report-alan-wake-sales-fig ures-close-to-1-5-million-unit s/

I guess there's no reason to stop.
