I'm getting just a little tired of posting bad news about THQ, but I am bound to a sacred oath to provide you gaming news -- good or bad. Anyway, THQ's President and Chief Executive Officer Brian J. Farrell has had his salary cut in half.
Farrell's salary has been cut to $359,250 for a one-year period beginning February 13, 2012. The THQ prez won't be alone in the soup line, though. The company's board of directors have "elected" to receive 50% less cash compensation for a year too.
This salary cut revelation is only the latest in a string of bad news for the company, including (but not limited to):
- THQ Threatened With Stock Market De-Listing
- THQ Lays Off Employees
- THQ Dogged By Rumors That 2014 Slate Canceled
For more in-depth THQ news, tune in to G4TV.com tomorrow afternoon. The company will be hosting its quarterly financial call, and will no doubt reveal what it plans to do.
All of the best people are following Stephen Johnson's twitter feed. Also, email me if you wanna.

Now he only makes 20x as much as I do in a year! How will he survive?! It's got to be tough making all that money for sitting around all day doing nothing.
That being said, It is always good to see the higher-ups in a financially hurting company take lower salaries. It is, after all, their fault the company is hurting.

Why is this any of our business? I feel bad for the guy but its his personal info and not ours, its trash like this that is turning gaming sites into a mainstream soap. I understand updating us on some good/bad news with a company, but this! Its just wrong. I wonder how Brian Farrell feels about us all talking about this? ...like his personal life is any of are &%$#ing business anyways.

...and yet CEO's and politicians all over the country are getting record pay increases while people the people under them are earning less and less or just plain getting laid off, and when things go bad, do they follow this example (or examples that other countries such as Japan have lead the way with)? No, they hold their hands out for bailout money and continue to increase their own pay in spite of their apparent failure. A big thumbs up to you, THQ, for doing the right thing. Here's hoping you bounce back soon.

Did you forget to mention the other 240 laid off, ontop of the 170 reported earlier today? :P
Who gives a damn about a CEO's loss in pay, many people lost their jobs entirely.
But anyways It saddens me to see how little people care about THQ potentially disapearing.. They have been there forever and were always ones to give something or someone new a chance.
Like a little turn based RPG on the N64 called Aidyn Chronicles for example, that never would have seen the light of day without THQ and it was actually ahead of it's time in a few ways.. It was probably among my top favorite RPG's back then too, ESPECIALLY with the huge lack of them on the N64!

Nintendo had a worse year and they will still be around so lets not worry.

What is this Stephen? Occupy THQ? Stop complaining just because someone had the savy to do a job many times harder than yours and gets paid well for it.

this is what happens when you introduce things like online passes.

SEE YA THQ.. Most of your games blew over the years.. Can only really remember a very few that made any impact of love in my gaming memory!
