Final Fantasy 13-2 is a sequel that takes place three years after the FF13 and features new characters on an exciting adventure that has them traveling through time. It's got all the bells and whistles that Final Fantasy 13 had but this time around Square Enix has made tons of improvements, and our review explains why you might want to pick this game up.
"Map locations are much more open this time around, with plentiful opportunities to explore. That curiosity is almost always rewarded, leading to new items, monsters, or opening new side quests. Each location has its own side story to tell, often spanning multiple time periods and alternate realities. Whether it’s aiding researchers in Yaschas Massif or exploring the Bresha Ruins, they add a context and weight to your actions in the world that was severely lacking in Final Fantasy XIII. Even Serenity, Final Fantasy XIII-2’s casino, provides a nice diversion where players can race the chocobos they have been raising for battle."
Hop on your chocobo and read our full Final Fantasy 13-2 review.

Re-post.
Just want add some thoughts on this Game series(13). IMO the previous game to this was a good game, that I enjoyed a lot. Anybody who hasn't played it should really. It's painted beautifully, with a clear thread and has a good story. Although it's something that you can't hassle through as easily as other FF games. I personally enjoy a good challenge. I hate DLC's and hope they'l get rid of them soon. Why would I waste time and spend money on a game that isn't complete. It's a scam IMO. That's not even including content being locked on a disc. It does not make people want to buy any of their stuff, it get's avid gamers to sail the pirate ship with a happy smile and feel no remorse in doing so. Also I don't agree on that linearity is something bad. FF X and 7, is IMO the best games to date in the FF catalogue, and it's clearly linear themes, it's the care and attention to the story that matters. Why not trying to including as much as possible on the discs instead of ripping us loyal consumers like this? I question buying this if the stock ending is bad. Can someone confirm playing this game without DLC's is worth my time and cash?
Forgot to mention, FF 6 is also a good game.

Good, it's up now.

I thought the game was pretty good until the ending, like how are you just gonna kill off the main character with some lame excuse that seeing the future saps your life away? And then killing Caius makes the world end, no matter what you do? Seriously? No matter what, even though you win the game, you lose. Then the whole "To be continued" crap? Wow. Worst ending in a FF game, ever. Seriously disappointed with this one. Glad I rented it first before I went and wasted the money on it.

Here's the deal. FF 13 was the WORST FF game and arguably the worst SquareEnix game. And upon THAT foundation SquareEnix built a sequel, but only if the story ended there. It doesn't by the way.
1) Serah, is Vanille 2.0. True she doesn't make sounds of a sexual nature every 4 seconds like Vanille. But she is still the stereotypical Japanese schoolgirl anime character, weak, annoying and over the top sexualized.
2) The plot. Well if you get to the end of FF 13-2, you just realized that you paid 60$ for a game with no ending. No the ending is instead... DLC "installments" so not only do you have to pay more... but it seems as though you have to pay more and more and more just to get to the ending. And that ending is only in sight if the DLC model remains lucrative for Square. So you all may never get to see the end of this story.
3) Sidequests. Well they are there, but you wouldn't miss them if they weren't. These sidequests are boring, repetitive, shallow and the rewards are well... whatever, there are no rewards of significance for completing the sidequests.
This game is bad, utter garbage. Which brings me to this conclusion.
When you take a pile of excrement (final fantasy 13) and sprinkle glitter (final fantasy 13-2) on it, what do you get?
Answer, a shiny pile of excrement, that is still... just a pile of excrement.

Final Fantasy 13 is the worst FF game. Wait 11 sucked too.

Wow gameinformer's review was wayyyyyy different. The reviewer there said that the time paradoxes gets old fast. Like all the mystery in the game can be answered with "a time paradox caused it". Now I'm not inclined to believe one review over another, but with so many damn good games coming out within the next two months I gotta pick and choose. Unfortunately I had to cancel my preorder to make room for other, more lucrative titles(to me).

And I just regained the motivation I needed to get back into FFXIII and complete it because I REALLY want to play this game.
I love all things Time Travel and all things Final Fantasy so I'm so in.

Final Fantasy 12 was my favorite

I had a pre-order down...but then I watched another review and decided to go buy Skyrim lol.

I was so offended by the first game after getting 20 hours into it that I just can't spend any more time with this universe, no matter how good reviews for this are. The only other time I have been so blatantly offended by a form of entertainment was when I went and saw M Night Shamalyans "The Happening". Fool me once...
