Cheats and Walkthroughs

As we get closer and closer to the release date of the Wii U, new features are becoming known, including the just revealed "Near Field Communication." NFC is the technology you might know from games like Skylanders Spyro Adventurers. Where you can "scan in" real world objects, and use them in the game world.
According to Nintendo, if you install this functionality:
"it will become possible to create cards and figurines that can electronically read and write data via noncontact NFC and to expand the new play format in the video game world. Adoption of this functionality will enable various other possibilities such as using it as a means of making micropayments.
So not only will the real world and the game world interact in new ways, you'll also be able to scan your credit cards for easy micro-payments.
Now that we know a little bit more about the Wii U -- the NFC tech, the Nintendo Network -- has your opinion of the device changed?

The fact of the matter is it's still geared towards kids. Every bit of it's functionality points towards that. I'm a grown adult with my own entertainment system, and if I want to play I will play on my HDTV. My girlfriend and I both have Our own gaming set up, so even if We want to play/watch something else We can do that. Being able to play a game on the controller is something a child would want to do when their dad takes over the television. Even the NFC is taken from Skylanders. A kids game (though a very fun one I will say). I work in video game retail, and of my coworkers that are core gamers and core gamers that come into the store none of them are interested even remotely. We as core gamers don't want more gimmicks in our games. We just want good, solid gameplay with detailed graphics and intricate design. We don't want a tablet to game on, we don't want to use our Kinects to run around going "Pew, pew" to shoot people. We want real games, and real game consoles. Nintendo only cares about trends and kids.

What they should do is look at the old NES games and bring back some of those games back to the system.
Metal Gear and Ninja Gaiden for example were originally on NES, yet they have moved to other consoles. Even Final Fantasy has been hurt as we see more of them made on Playstation. Sure the Wii had Crystal Chronicles, but that could no way compare with FFX, FFXII, or FFXIII.
I would personally love to see them bring back some of the following great titles....
Dragon Warrior, Double Dragon, Blaster Master, Crystalis, Wizards and Warriors, Rygar, Star Tropics, Ultima, and Xexyz

To prove my point of how its geared towards children, out of curiosity I went onto wiki and looked up the list of all of the games made on the Wii. Then I did a search for the word "Party" there were over 70 titles with that word in the name.

Nintendo has always outdone itself by introducing new concepts into the gaming market. The biggest problem is the list of software titles. Look at Wii's list of games and anyone can clearly see that nearly 80% of the Wii games are specifically designed for children. There are lots of Disney and other titles based on cartoons, or cartoon movies. There are lots of family based "fun packs." The bottom line is that for a console to be successful in this day and age it has to cater to the more mature players. Hardware can only take a console so far. This lends some of the responsibility to devs to make challenging games that keep players coming back for more. Skyward Sword was a great example of how to raise the bar and still have a title that people will genuinely fall in love with. I hope to see more titles like that in the future.

Oh good, now you can add the price of worthless plastic figurines to the price of normal DLC. Its a win-win...for Nintendo. "Gotta micro-transact them all."

i dont see why nintendo is still living in the 90's i thought when they showed the wii u it was like a joke like ha just kidding heres what we really want to show you but no
RockieOllie
That can be pretty cool. Imagine buying coupons from Gamestop, Walmart, Target etc... and using your Wii U to scan the coupon for cool things like features extra content maybe even to play demo/betas for games.

Is it kind of weird that when I read "as a means of making micropayments," I imagined scanning dollar bills?
Bladeliger1

Why do people always count out nintendo? The gamecube looked like a lunch box but was very successful. The wii had a stupid name and everybody thought nintendo would fall cause the graphics weren't high def. How do YOU think everything is trending....Prolly towards tablets and handhelds. I think the very idea that you can play your game while your girlfriend watch's One tree hill is fabulous. Imagine not having to suffer through crappy shows. You could watch netflix on the wiiU while your spouse watch's something else. I think everybody has counted them out until the sale numbers start coming in. There's a reason why they've been in the gaming business for as long as they have it's cause there always ahead of the curve.

So now I get to leave my wallet on the table and nintendo will "accidently" scan my credit card and buy hundreds of little outfits for my mii.

Do I sense that Nintendo is goin to fail like Sega, I think so!!!

I'm still not convinced. Nintendo took a big risk with the 3DS and it did not pay off. It seems like they are rushing the release of the Wii U to kind of draw attention away from the fact that the 3DS was a failure. And that means that developers have had to rush as well and we won't get any decent titles at launch.

@nighthawk282, as of right now, I agree, there's not much software to base this thing off of. But I'm still fairly impressed by the recent wave of publicity Nintendo has brought out to show for the WiiU. I'll consider it when the time comes...
nighthawk282
Showcase some software launching along with the Wii U and I might start to think about it. As of right now, Nintendo has given me no concrete reason to consider purchasing it.
