We've been writing a lot about THQ lately. Yesterday, we detailed the game-makers plans to drop their kid-focused games in order to focus on "core" titles, and today we've learned that a round of layoffs have hit the company. Right now, we don't know how many people have faced pink slips.
“THQ confirms a reduction in force to the company’s administration and publishing organization," the publisher said in a statement. "As recently announced, the company is exiting the kids’ licensed games category, and is focusing on its core game franchises and developing its digital initiatives.
We'll learn more about the reorganization during THQ's financial conference call being held on February 2, so make sure you check back then to learn the fate of this company.

I've got a lot of faith in THQ and am definitely a supporter. What did it for me was Saint Row the Third, that game was really the first time in this current gen that showed real refinement in the mechanics, story, and gameplay elements from them. So now that they have my radar I think they've got really good unique ideas in the making like Darksiders and the sequel to Metro 2033. They've got a lot of appeal in their atmosphere and imagery, I just really hope (and I think they know this) that they make a real effort to put as much refinement and production value into those games as they did Saints Row. I think their weakness in the past has been delivering a somewhat unfinished product, so their games have been mediocre and somewhat bland. They need some more good creative directors and game designers that really know how to bring everything together {like me :) }

Homefront was not that bad it was disappointment namely the single player. But the multiplayer was pretty good.This are the things they need to fix servers connections, better graphics, more guns(primary and secondary), and be able to put 2 weapons attachments on your primary weapon

I'm glad you guys can make jokes while others worry about putting food on their table. THQ has had some misses, but what publisher hasn't? Look, I've been selling games for a little over 11 years and seeing any developer or publisher struggle is never fun. I just hope THQ can get back on its feet and those who get laid off find work ASAP.
