Fans from Nintendo's good old days of dominating the video game console scene will be pleased to learn that the classic NES boxing game, Punch-Out!!, will be entering the 3DS eShop ring in Japan next week. That's not much help if you live in North America, but it does make an eventual stateside eShop release of the game a very real possibility. Which, I think we can all agree, is excellent news.
Nintendo's official product page (via Siliconera) confirms that the game will be coming on February 1 with a 500 yen price tag, which converts to around $6. There's nothing special about this release, no 3D support or anything like that... but it's Punch-Out!!! It's also the first Virtual Console NES game release in the 3DS eShop that isn't part of the handheld's Ambassadors Program lineup.
